With the 25th pick of the 2018 boards NFL draft the Tennessee Titans select Harold Landry DE, Boston College

    gettyimages-859849808.jpg?w=1000&h=667

The Titans are pretty set on offense but could look at an upgrade at guard which would help with their aggressive run oriented attack. Defence is where they need most help and pass rushers are always a valuable commodity. The Titans two pass rushers are Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo who are both coming to the end of their career so it’s time to draft a replacement.

Landry is seen as one of the top pass rushing prospects with a great burst at the snap and good flexibility to get around the edge. He will need to develop more pass rushing moves so having two experienced guys to learn from should help with that. After a fantastic 2016 season where he recorded 16.5 sacks Landry suffered from a set back in 2017 and an ankle injury meant that his season was cut short.

For the NFL he will need to add some muscle to his upper body as he can be targeted on run plays. He’ll likely be a pass rusher to start his career and develop his game from there.

Current players that he compares to are Bruce Irvin and Vic Beasley

Alfred Borden and the Atlanta Falcons are on the clock

With the 26th pick of the boards.ie 2018 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select Taven Bryan, DT from Florida.

    6_7209084.jpg

Dontari Poe and Adrian Clayborn have both signed elsewhere this off season and now suddenly, there is a gaping hole on the defensive line to play alongside Grady Jarrett. Bryan was Florida's best defensive player last year, a disruptive star inside who commanded and often beat double-teams inside from his three-technique tackle position. Bryan had 40 tackles, six tackles for a loss and four sacks last season. As a 6-foot-5, 293-pound lineman with excellent burst off the line of scrimmage, Bryan has the versatility to play in a 4-3 scheme as a three-technique tackle or in a 3-4 as a five-technique defensive end. Seen as a developmental project with upside compared to J.J. Watt and Cam Jordan, Bryan fills the description of exactly what Dan Quinn likes on his defence.

I also felt that the Falcons need help at the interior offensive line position but this is considered a deep draft at that position and so they can address this area in the later rounds. Next up is Tripperman and the New Orleans Saints.

The New Orleans Saints select TE Hayden Hurst SOUTH CAROLINA

The saints are a difficult pick to for, they have an young and up and coming offense, there's a few holes that could be addressed at wr, te and oline, defense is in need of upgrade at edge rusher, linebacker or safety, but at this point there's lot's of talent in the later rounds that can improve most of these needs, so I'm going with a player that can help improve the team in two important area's on offense,

Hayden brings an upgrade to the saints receiving core, he's a quick receiver that's able to get open downfield, he's a solid in line blocker that can help in the run game, he's going to give Brees an impact player to help in keeping the chain's moving similar to Jimmy Graham used to

The Pittsburgh Steelers select Leighton Vander Esch, Linebacker, Boise State

A big athletic Linebacker with excellent instincts, the Steelers will look to Van Der Esch to soften the blow of the loss of Ryan Shazier. Doesn't have the speed of Shazier, but much more physical and reads the play extremely well.

Needs to cut out turning his shoulder as he takes on blocks but a solid young Linebacker.

With the 29TH pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select...Offensive Guard, Will Hernadez, UTEP.

    Name: Will Hernandez

    Position: Guard

    School: UTEP

    Ht/Wt: 6-2, 327

    40 dash: 5.15 seconds
    Bench: 37 reps
    Vertical: 24.0 inches
    Broad: 104.0 inches
    3-cone: 7.59 seconds
    20-yard shuttle: 4.7 seconds

This was a choice between two combine standouts in Hernandez and Gesicki. Ultimately with ASJ on the roster and question marks over Gesicki's blokcing I went with Hernandez. With him, Norwell and Linder their interior is going to be shored up for years to come. Hernandez is a nasty mauler who's athletic enough to excel in any scheme and to make sure Fournette is untouched until the second level. PFF's highest graded guard in 2016, Hernandez really drills home the Jags identity as a run first team.

With the 30th pick the Vikings select Offensive Tackle Orlando Brown Oklahoma

The Vikings need to improve the protection for new QB Kirk Cousins, Brown is not an athletic tackle, but he's a tough blocking tackle that can hold his own consistently against top tier pass rushers which, he's more than capable as a run blocker, but does neee improvement in this area of his game,

With the 31st pick of the 2018 Boards.ie Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select

    Isaiah Oliver-Corner Back-Colorado

    IOliver_1000x675.jpg

I found this a really hard pick to make, it seems the patriots could nearly go with any position on the field and they’d be addressing an area of need. I feel that if the draft went like this(obviously its not now with the Rams trade) Bill and co would be do everything in their power to move back into the second round, but alas there are no trades here so I may make the pick!

Leighton Vander Esch would have been the pick here had he not been taken by the Steelers, as I think theres a few spots along the front 7 that could do with upgrading, Sam Hubbard and Arden Key were also considerations here. I also looked at investing at the left tackle position but just felt the likes of Kolton Miller, Brian O’Neil and Martinas Rankin just didn’t offer good value at 31. Wide receiver is obviously another area of need with the departure of Brandon Cooks, but I think they can get good value at WR further down the draft.

In the end I decided to get some extra cover at the CB. Stephon Gilmore is cemented as cb1 and as it stands I assume McCourty will be cb2 heading into camp. After that there is a fairly big drop off at this position, this was clearly evident during the super bowl. And even if McCourty is cb2 he’s going to be 31 before the season starts, so he’s not really a long term option.

In my opinion Oliver is one of the top corner backs coming into the draft and the only one I’d be interested in drafting ahead of him is Josh Jackson. Oliver possesses an outstanding combination of size, speed and length and those traits are highly coveted by NFL general managers. He can step in and compete with McCourty on the outside opposite Gilmore. While Olivers 2017 stats don’t look overly impressive, 13 passes broken up, 2 interceptions and 25 tackles. A major reason for this is QBs just avoided throwing the ball towards his side of the field!

With the 32nd pick of the boards.ie 2018 NFL Draft, the Philadephia Eagles select....

    RB, Derrius Guice, LSU

    59da2209203b2.image.jpg?resize=1200%2C1047

What do you give the team who has everything? With no 2nd or 3rd round picks, I'd be amazed if the Eagles don't trade out of this spot and add picks. I really wanted to pick Mike Hughes, but between Darby, Sidney Jones, Worley etc, I thought i'd give them another exciting offensive weapon instead. TE was a strong consideration too with Philly losing Burton and Celek.

But with Sproles and Blount gone, Pumphrey on the fringes, Clement mostly flashing as a pass catcher and mainly because Jay Ajayi is in the final year of his deal (no way they pay him next year with those knee concerns), I decided to go with the consensus #2 RB in the draft, and Daniel Jeremiah's #17 prospect.

Guice has excellent speed and power, can run inside and out, great feet and can carry a full workload at the next level. Over the past two seasons he has nearly 3K yards and 29 TDs from scrimmage in total, and should punish those poor NFC East run D's (unfortunately for my Skins)

NB: Apologies for the image size, rushing out the door :/

With the 33rd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns select...cornerback, Jaire Alexander, Louisville.

My hope had been that Isiah Oliver would fall to this spot, but alas it was not to be. Alexander isn't a bad consolation prize. Alexander would probably be a first round pick if it wasn't for some durability concerns. Running a 4.38 40 he can keep out with an receiver and is aggressive at the catch point. Excelling in zone he also has ability as a punt returner.

Also considered were Sam Hubbard and DJ Chark.

With the 34th pick the Giants select Ronald Jones RB, USC

    ronald-jones-getty.jpg?w=525

The Giants need help in the running game and Jones provides good value here. He's a tough runner, he is able to jink around defenders really well, and he fights really hard for extra yards. That kind of hunger is what I personally love to see in a running back. He can catch ball in the back field and make plays happen too.

With the 17th pick of the boards.ie 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Arden Key, DE/OLB from LSU.

    Arden-Key-678x381.jpg

The Browns make it two picks each on offense and defense following their fourth pick in the draft. The Browns add a potential edge rusher opposite Myles Garrett. The concern surrounds a down year in his final college year due to injury having set a single season LSU record in sacks (12) in 2016.

With the 36th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select, Runningback, Sony Michel. Georgia Bulldogs.

    6_7898170.jpg

    61UKW%2BdDQaL._SY355_.jpg

I'm going to tell you now, Guice and Alexandaire going off the board back to back a few picks ago scuppered my plans here somewhat.

Colts have needs all over their roster, in all honesty. The addition of Chubb in round 1 is a great boost to their franchise, but that still leaves major gaps at CB, RB, and OL - from my non-Colts attentive perspective anyway.

Donte Jackson and Cartlon Davis were Cornerbacks in consideration for me here, as well as interior lineman James Daniels, but I ultimately pulled the trigger to get Sony Michael. Michael is a running back who can make people miss and slip through the smallest holes, a requirement when running behind a line such as the one he'll have at Indie.

It was this that edged him over adding another Chubb to the Colts roster.

Phatkev is on the clock now, for would you believe it... The Colts again.

    Donte Jackson-Corner Back-LSU

    USATSI_8959407_168381178_lowres-718x490.jpg

The Colts have needs all over the field, they've already addressed two of those positions with the selection of Chubb and Michel. I've decided to give them some extra help at cornerback considering they lost Davis and Melvin during free agency.

Jackson has average size for a cornerback in today's NFL. He's 5-11 and 175. Where he shines is in athletic ability and speed. Jackson has been timed at 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
SEC coaches voted him second-team all-conference in 2017, as he started 12 of 13 games played, posting 49 stops, 3.5 for loss, an interception, and 10 pass breakups.

Right Tackle, linebacker and wide receiver were the other positions I looked at for this pick. But Ballard seems to be addressing the secondary through the draft, having picked up Hooker and Wilson last year and this pick adds another young exciting piece to that secondary

With the 38th pick of the 2018 Boards.ie Mock Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select

    636466099382934346-111817AuburnVsULM29.jpg

A two-year starter at Auburn, Johnson showed promise as a sophomore before emerging as the bellcow runner for the Tigers in 2017 and one of the best
backs in college football. His 115.9 rushing yards per game as a junior ranked ninth-best among power-five programs and his 18 touchdowns was more than 46 FBS teams. Based on first glance, Johnson doesn’t blow you away as a NFL prospect because of his tall pads and average speed, but he skillfully walks the fine line between being patient and quick-minded as a runner, making correct reads and maximizing the space available. While he was rarely 100% healthy at Auburn, he never gave less than 100% effort when on the field and his trademark toughness is exceptional. However, he didn’t have an injury-free season in college and sustained health is the largest concern for his NFL transition. Overall, Johnson displays the win-at-all-cost attitude, feel as a ballcarrier and multi-dimensional skills to be an impactful starter for a NFL offense – projects as a top-50 draft pick and leaner version of Jordan Howard.

The Chicago bears with the 7 pick in the second round select DE Sam Hubbard Ohio state

Bears got Denzel Ward the Ohio state cb in round one and end up going back to coach Urban Myer for Hubbard, he's a solid defensive end that set's the edge in both pass and run play's, he's a player who gives his all each play and finishes off tackles, he does lack a go to move, but he more than makes up for it with strength and speed,

I had looked at oline here and Linebacker but thought that improving the pass rush was the best way to go here,

    Making the pick for Guffy:

With the 8th pick in the 2nd round, the Denver Broncos select: Billy Price, Guard, Ohio State.

An strong athletic guard with a nasty streak Billy Price gives the Broncos some needed offensive line help. Can play either Guard position and also can be used as a centre.

Drafting a guard with the third overall pick is absolute nonsense. The Giants need a qb. How will it look if Rosen turns out be a hall of famer and they let the Jets take him?

With the 41st pick of the 2018 Boards.ie Mock Draft, the Oakland Raiders

    flagge-nfl-oakland-raiders-90-x-150-cm.png

    select #13, Michael Dickson,Punter,Texas, 6'3", 205lbs

    DHrwG-lVwAASHxA.jpg

Going slightly crazy here and putting myself in those mystical shoes and channeling my inner Al Davis its time that this draft gets a truly remarkable bombshell of a pick. With the raiders having cut a very solid punter in Marquette King, step into the light the the punter from down under from my beloved University of Texas Longhorns Michael Dickson.

In a defining season in Austin, whereby he was likely one of his teams most valuable players and having seen the man in person and his ability to flip the field the Raiders get their replacement for King. In an almost remarkable display in the Texas bowl, Dickson punted 11 times for 452 yards. Of those punts 10 landed inside the 15, 7 inside the 10 and 4 inside the 5 yard line and not one went for a touchback. I watched the game and was stunned at the skills of the Aussie rules convert. In the last 10 years one punter has gone inside the top three rounds and this year Dickson could be the man to change the script. Added to the MVP display Dickson was the Ray Guy award winner for best punter in the nation in 2017, won the big 12 special teams player of the year and was a consensus All American. His punt average was 47.4 third in the nation with net punt average of 44.4. 33 of his 84 kicks were fair catches with half of the punts being inside the opposition 20. The big knock on dickson is that he's a specialist punter and does not kick off but this could always be taught or worked on during his early career. His hang time on punts could also be improved and worked on

With the 42nd pick of the boards.ie Mock 2018 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select:

    Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

    #photo

So basically the board couldn't have fallen any more perfectly for the Dolphins. Lamar Jackson is a project for sure, but he has shown elite speed, athleticism and arm strength, and I am sure he won't last past the first round in real life.

The kid is raw, but I had a look at some of his college play (I don't follow college football closely, so I hadn't seen him before) and Jackson is legitimately exciting. It is not just the physical tools, but he has some serious playmaking potential. This would be the perfect guy to draft now, with Tannehill being the starter for 2018, Jackson has time to become accustomed to NFL schemes, and the Dolphins would be well set at QB.

A number of analysts have him as top QB in the draft, and the imaginary Dolphins will be wetting themselves if the board falls like this.

With the 43rd pick of the 2018 draft, The new England patriots select.....

    Shaquem-Griffin-610x354.jpg?fit=610%2C354&ssl=1

Pats actually on paper need to work on a few different positions, Lb being the main one in my opinion, Griffen (isnt selected as far as I can see) should be a solid pro for them with maybe some pro bowls if he can live up to his potential, BB takes a chance here and takes the best remaining Lb in the draft

With the 44th pick the Washington *ahems* select
    635870123835131814-12282015-ROSEBOWLPRACTICE406.jpg
    James Daniels, C/G from Iowa

Maybe not the sexiest pick in the world but will provide a strong base for their line to protect Alex Smith and has the versatility to play either center of guard for them.
He played in 37 games for the Hawkeyes over three years, has elite movement, is agile and can get to the second level. Should be able to be a day one starter for them.
He will likely need to add some weight to play in the NFL and may need to work on dealing with strength moves/Bull rushers. He weighed in at 305 for the combine so appears to already be working towards this. Considered to have a high football IQ, he looks for work and finds blocks at the second level when they present themselves. Overall a good player to plug in and upgrade their line, should be able to provide help in the run game as well.

The green bay packers select CB Carlton Davis Auburn

The packers defensive backs struggled last season and with the addition of Davis they get a long physical corner who play press coverage or off coverage with great affect, the only knock on Davis is his hands, he gets to the ball but only had 3 interceptions, which isn't great, he's a willing tackler in the run game making big stops, some tackles aren't perfect but there effective,

With the 46th pick of the boards.ie Mock 2018 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select -

    LB, Lorenzo Carter, Georgia

After trading for Cordy Glenn and drafting more OLine help in Conor Williams, the Bengals turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball. With Vontaze Burfict facing a 4 game suspension and always seeming to have on and off field issues, additional depth is needed and a potential long term replacement.

Carter is an athletic freak, measuring in at 6'5" and 250 pounds while also running a 4.5 at the combine. Put this on top of his 10'10" broad jump - biggest ever for an edge rusher, his draft stock has risen in recent weeks and it'd wouldn't shock me to see him sneak up into the end of the 1st round.

The Arizona Cardinals are now on the clock...
