cover up a double doorway - living to diningroom

    I'm trying to cover up a double doorway. - walls either side are plasterboard partition type non load.
    When I removed the doors and casing in order to create a new new set of studs I can see the old stud either size is an unusual measurement - looks like 85x35.
    I've looked about and can't locate this timber - all seem to be 4x2 or 3x2 etc. any ideas?

    sometimes wider planks are needed and cut to size maybe?

    yeah I was thinking that, perhaps 100x35 and go to timber yard and cut it down

    all you can do is either rip down a 4x2 or use a 3x2 and plant on something to bring it out. some 1/2" ply or 9mm ply would work and would strngthen the wall from knocks

    brain engaged, could rip down 7x2 and could cost less

    It's probably 89x38, a standard CLS size.
    Big builders providers won't have that but oddly some B&Q stores do stock it.

    yes, looking at it is seems to be like that. I'll check B&Q Limerick and Woodies for 8ft lengths. It is some weird measurement though as not an even imperial or metric - perhaps its 100mm planed?? whoknows
