Jointly assessed PAYE and self employed

Hi. I'm a PAYE worker, my husband is self employed. Revenue are aware we are married and this is the first year we are jointly assessed. I submitted my med 1 for 2017 to our accountant two weeks ago. My expenses were 3741€ as I had a serious car accident at the end of 2016. I submitted my husbands Vat to the accountant on the same day as the med 1, we got a vat refund yesterday, no sign of my med 1. Does anyone know how long this will take to process? I would have submitted the med 1 myself in the past, this is the first time submitting through the accountant. Thanks a lot.

As you are jointly assessed you will have to submit your joint form 11 income tax return for 2017 and include your medical expenses in the appropriate section of the form.

thanks for the reply, should the accountant not do that for us? It was he who said we should be jointly assessed and to submit the med 1 to him

That's a question for your accountant. The 2017 form 11 isn't due until the 31st of October 2018.
