Outdoor lock for wooden back garden gate

Hi all,

Im looking to replace my current bolt and padlock with a lock that can be accessed on both sides of our wooden back garden gate. The gate itself is a standard gate you would typically find to access the back garden, thin with beams.

Without having to cut a hole to access the padlock, I would like a simple solution if anyone has any ideas/advice? Can't seem to find a neat weather proof solution in the standard places (woodies/homebase etc)

I've tried a lot of different builder providers, garden centres, DIY stores etc for similar and nothing came close to being suitable.
Best I could find was this

although I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. There's a 50mm and 70mm version available depending on the thickness of your gate.
Not sure why the selection of products available in this country is so poor, every store has the same generic supply available.

Im in the same boat nothing close to this using local providers and I think it is a bit too long for my gate. Although i may have to put up with that to get the ability to lock/unlock from both sides!

I used one of these - can open door with handle from both sides & lock with key from both sides.

Although this is handy I also have a bolt with padlock on top & bottom of the door (used when away for extended periods) - these are functional but not the best security lock.

I have used these for the exact same scenario as the OP, they are a great solution

I wanted to be able to lock the gate from the front and the back as I keep a bike in the shed for occasionally cycling to work and it seemed the right solution

Was very happy with the lock so I got another one to put in the shed door to replace the bolt and padlock combo which never felt very secure to me, this makes it much more solid and secure imo
