Depth of insulated plasterboard to use

    Hi folks,
Our house was built with hollow blocks. Semi detached house. It has plasterboard over the blocks that was attached by dabbing so there's a gap between the board and block. Recently upgraded our gas boiler and have sort of been bitten by the insulation bug. I'm thinking of going room by room and ripping off the plasterboard to bare block and put on insulated plasterboard. External walls only. What is the recommended depth of insulated board to use? I don't want to go to crazy and take to much space from the rooms. Would 50mm be a good depth?
    Thanks,
    Mick

50 will make a difference. But if you've none at all to begin with then 100 on external walls would do a job
