Is this considered a big job? radiators not heating water

    Hi guys, we bought a terraced house before Christmas. It's in great shape (40s house ) and nothing needs done.
    The gas radiators do not heat the water which is bothering me as it's a waste. The previous owner said he had got it fixed before but never seemed to work for long. The immersion switch works well so just using that.

    Also about two months ago the water in the upstairs attic conversion bathroom just stopped - sink taps, bath, toilet flush. I thought it could be a switch flicked off by mistake somewhere but doesn't seem to be. The other bathroom upstairs is fine.
    I'm going to get a plumber to basically get the rads heating the water and get the water back in the conversion and wondering if this sounds like a big job.Is there anything I should ask the plumber to do.

    As you correctly figured out, it needs a once over by a plumber to sort it out. Both problems might be or not be connected.

    Check the water pressure. Sounds like not enough water in the loop. Same issue happened in mine a while back, upstairs heating not working and no hot water. Usually there will be a gauge (which should read ~ 1.5bar while cold) by the boiler. If it's low, adjust the tap by the gauge to bring more mains water into the loop.

    Two very separate problems, both should be easy enough to resolve.

    Attic conversion bathrooms would usually require a water pressure boosting pump to be installed, usually im the hot press. With no water in your attic bathroom I would think the pump has stopped working.
    Check the hot press for a pump, usually its on the floor with 4 pipes connected to it. It may just need to be reset by turning off the electric supply for a minute and turing it back on, or it may need to be repaired.

    As for all the radiators heating, but not the hot water, that may be one of a few things, but the valves on the circuit from you heating system into the hot water cylinder may be closed.
    Go to your hot press, clear out all household items and take photographs and post them back here and lers see what the set up is like.
