    Hey All
We're looking for recommendations for a carpenter preferably in Waterford who can build something similar to the below.
    Any recommendations?

Nope, not unless they are very/over skilled.

Are there any qualified cabinet makers in the area?
Probably a dying (if not dead) breed.

why . both those pics are made up from off the shelf parts. there is very little making involved

OP try donedeal. You will find some unwanted/ ex display islands. My cousin got a beautiful one on it recently.
Or any kitchen company will make that to size for you. As someone already said they are just off the shelf doors and made up using MDF

Very little work in those. As you say, off the shelf stuff. Any kitchen fitter will put that together in an afternoon.

OP; look at what you'd like in it, and go from there. If possible, goto a few showrooms that have them. I've seen a few basic ones, and then I've seen a few with electric sockets hidden neatly away.

Sign up to Pinterest, and have a look at https://www.pinterest.ca/search/pins/?q=kitchen%20islands

Simple things such as a pop-up plug thing can make the desk tidy when it needs to be, or how you'd like the underneath to be, or if you wanted it to have a section that you could put a bin, etc.

Well if it is not a bespoke island that is required then there are self-assembly units for sale in most outlets that provide kitchens etc.

It would be bespoke to an extent as we have the counter top piece that we want to use on it, it matches the counter top we have.

Plus we would like wheels on it as the kitchen is big enough so we want to move it where we need.

How big a space do you want on the top?

    Possible keywords;
    kitchen storage trolley ireland
    butchers block on wheels ireland

You say you have the "counter top piece" that you want, so you may be able to go cheap for the top, or a pre-made unit, with your counter top piece stuck on top of it. From looking at various designs, a "butchers blocks" may suit you.

Or maybe this, with your counter on top?

Holy fcuk it's quite in the office today!
