Currently have a 07 Galaxy, great for space but high road tax and been a bit heavy on diesel lately. Also had clutch fly wheel done twice and still having an issue with vibration at a certain rev point..

Anyway need a 7 seater. Budget would allow me go to an 11 or 12 Grand Scenic. Having owned a Megane which had the usual window reg issues and liked to eat coil packs am i mad considering a Renault again.

Also is the Galaxy worth anything private sale/trade

You do know a Grand Scenic is a bit smaller than a Galaxy? The Grand Scenic is not a full 7 seater, it's more a stretched 5 seater with 2 occasional seats in the boot. Also if you use the 3rd row then you lose proper use of the boot.

Reliability has improved dramatically on the 2009/2010 new model though.

Id only need the back row well one seat on occasion. Have 4 kids but 2 in early teens so its not an essential to drag them every where.

Not a huge boot in the Galaxy with 2 back seats up. I do need to fit a buggy in though.

Maybe easier to ditch a kid as shopping for 7 seaters increases my grey hair count

Im open to suggestions. The Galaxy on offer are high mileage and still expensive. Saw a 12 reg for over 20,000 in a main dealer

I liked the Megane, very comfortable car with a nice spec for the price. Apart from window regs and coil packs which were cheap enough to replace i was happy with it but i think i was just lucky.

I do like the S Max and was after one before i got the Galaxy. Found it hard to find one that had the low mileage, well kept and price/budget at the time.

My mechanic has been championing Grand Scenic and Zafira for various reasons. Not a fan of the bench seat in the Zafira

I have owned a 2010 grand scenic 1.5dci since 2013. So far 180,000kms with no problems. I see cars as boxes to get from A to B safely, reliably and economically. It does all of that so far. They are really comfortable and easy to drive.

we've a 2012 Grand Scenic - it's fine, better than the previous version. Haven't put huge miles on it but it's been around France and cruises along nicely in 6th, comfortable for driver and passengers (can't vouch for those in the 3rd row, it's only really suitable for kids and we only use it if we're carrying friends).

Massive boot when the 3rd row is folded down and you can also fold down and/or remove the 2nd row seats if you're planning a splurge in Ikea.
