What words, if any, really offend you?

Apparently, there are 7 dirty words that should never be said on television. The fact that some of them aren't swear filtered on here tells you that maybe they are not all so bad. Apart from these, I think racial slurs rank highly among those that cause offense, as do those that refer to people with learning difficulties and such. Are there any you enjoy saying? Are there some you think are too much? Do you think some folks are too sensitive? Are words just words?

None, but if someone doesn't want me to say a certain word in their presence, I won't say it, whether I agree that it's offensive or not. Unless that person is a cunt, obviously.

What if they're a retard? Or a mong?

Not a whole lot, but the fact that lot of people I work with curse, then apologise for cursing in front of me offends me...
Either be comfortable cursing or don't curse. The fact that they single me out to apologise to for it as I am one of very few females in the office bothers me more than the cursing!!

Not words I'd be inclined to use, personally.

No offence, but this appears to be about America.

Big fan of the c word. It short, blunt and elicits a variety of responses. But it should be used infrequently for maximum effect.

I'm not a fan of the word scum. I feel it's often misused to make people feel superior.

Billy Connolly did a funny routine about reactions to that word in America (where 'motherfucker' doesn't even raise an eyebrow). He compared it with Glasgow, where one might casually use it when trying to remember a film star's name... "No, no, not him... some other cunt".

It's mad, cunt is seen as a massively offense word but then again it can be a compliment in a way. ''Ah he's a sound cunt him.''

Bae and on fleek , a mong I work with uses them regularly in conversation.

She struggles a bit with "their" and "there" so people are generally gentle with her.

weird acronyms that pricks just assume the world knows because they know them.

threads which have links to a list rather than just fcking putting the list in the thread.
