We've seen some horror shows in recent times trying to break down a blanket defence in Castlebar. It'd be nice to go out and get a solid early lead for a change.

Very true. It is the first kick to the blanket system and forces a team that lives on this system to play a bit more open and makes them more vulnerable. This is really important that we do this in May.

There'll be no forays up the pitch by Niall Morgan for free taking duties.Mickey O Neill is the custodian for the Red Hand tomorrow.

Do Tyrone still rely on a blanket defence ?

I thought the 2017 SF v Dublin would have thought them once and for all that ultra defensive v good teams will never work

It's the one on recent times that got away
We just didn't turn up early doors

It has been a recurring problem over the years for Mayo.
That Donegal 2012 team, the way they played, 7 points up they were not going to be caught.
Mayo needed to get in front early on and make Donegal chase the game.
Leaving Michael Murphy 1 on 1 so early was never going to achieve that. Not with his sheer physical power.

If you can put enough pressure on them coming out of defense they have no one to kick too, but if you let them run the ball they transition at speed and can be lethal.

Ara they conceded an early goal and never got going after that. Sh1t happens

They're overrated but they're a better side than that day, and they'll still take a bit of beating

Is there any other game on before the match tomorrow in MacHale Park?

They will have no problems under the high ball into the square unless Mickey Harte introduces someone new.
Tyrone have no one to hit high ball into.
They will probably look to take Cafferkey on a tour of the park though.

With Hennelly starting in his 3rd successive game, management could be looking to championship and long kick outs. The latter are not fortes of Clarkes and while gaining this we are losing an incredible shot stopper.

Giving some of Hennellys previous gaffes, there is an element of risk. This is what probably cost us the 2016 final. What we gain, well time will tell.

Tyrone tomorrow will be difficult and we struggle agin a blanket. Ball carriers so have to be tip top with Keegan and Boyle leading charge. This game would suit Higgins and his style of holding onto the ball effortless. That may be a regret tomorrow night.

Looking forward to it regardless as Tyrone will want to dish out some payback over quarters last year.

I am on edge when I see high balls going into the square with hennelly in there regardless of how tall the opposition are....

Magnificent win by the Mayo hurlers in the final of Div 2B of the Allianz League v Down. They have turned that heavy defeat of last Sunday into a 1-15 to 0-14 victory.

    Well done lads.

Has it been a dirty game or is the ref losing control?

1-11 to 0-4. This game is done I think. Up to Ballybofey in an attempt to preserve div 1 status next weekend. Donegal currently losing to Monaghan.

More concerned about the injuries than the result.

I'm glad that wasn't on TV.

Mayo like a bad club team today. It was a hard watch in Baltic conditions.

So many unforced errors throughout with no sign of a logical game plan compared to the impressive Tyrone side. Fair play to them, it looks they have learned lessons from last season can rightly be considered proper contenders this year.

Winner takes all next week so against Donegal.

I hope Cillian and Lee don't have serious knocks.

More concerned about a lack of a gameplan than injuries or the result. Left 10 mins early, couldn't watch that muck tbh. Clueless in attack, spineless in defence.

Tyrone are a well drilled side and very strong in the tackle. Men against boys today.
