Anyone know have Lidl stopped doing the black&orange blades?

Haven't seen them there in the last few weeks.

They've dropped them - my own suspicion is that they found the three blade
system was not profitable enough so have dropped them and split the market deliberately by introducing the blue twin blade with handle in every refill pack (waste!) and fancy new five blade package, I reckon they are taking a punt that enough people will switch to the five blade to boost Cien profits.

Fancy razors are a massive racket. Give my face a run of the hair trimmers on No1 to take off the long stuff, then lash into it with BIC's best disposables. You'll have a few nicks but you're as smooth as a babies bum after.

Thinking of going down the DE route. Does the brand of the handle matter? Was looking online and €20 will get you a stainless unit. Is it just a fashion statement to spend more or what's the view?

A pack of 11 Mach III razors was priced at €28.99, that's €2.63 a razor. I always find that these triple blade crap usually gets clogged up easily and the blades warp and distort (I have very coarse facial hair).

A colleague of mine was trying to convince me to move over to safety razors and he bought me a cheap safety razor handle (a tenner or something) and a pack of safety blades. Well, I haven't looked back!

Replacement blades are 10 for €2.99, only 30 cent per blade. Even if I only shave once per blade, it still works out cheaper than getting the Mach II and Gilette ones.

I even find they give a crisper and smoother shave with lesser effort.

I think your experience is not the norm. I buy the multipacks of Gillette blades and 12 blades will last me 6-7months. I shave 4 or 5 times a week every week so it’s not bad value.

I have tried safety blades in the past and tore the shįte out of my face despite being extremely careful and cautious with them.

For the sake of €25 every 6 months I’d rather have a safe and cut free shave each morning.

Probably not. I bought one for 20 euro nearly 8 years ago.

All it does is hold the blade which is more important. It does give weight which is important too.

Disposable Wilkinson Sword 3 blade razors last forever, Gillette razors seem to fall apart after a couple of shaves, the rubber strip seems to give up so easily you could talk them into falling off.

Keep the Wilkinson Sword disposable razor clean and it just keeps going.

Aldi ones are grand - they did a nice girly women's one a while back but it's gone out of stock lately - but i think the only difference was the packaging and colour.

is there actually a difference between mens and womens blades or is it all just in the marketing ?

I signed up with Boldking.com over a year ago on the recommendation of a friend. I find them great. Reasonably priced and it's great having a pack of blades arrive in the post every couple of months.

When my mate lived at home, he couldn't leave his mac3 in the bathroom, as his sisters would use it for their legs, as it got a smoother shave. Take from that what you will.

It really does depend on how you shave, you don't need to use a 'cut-throat' system to get a clean shave, but prepare your face like so, hot towel(face cloth)held to your face until the cloth starts to cool and just repeat once more, it really softens the hair/bristles.
Then shaving gel and away you go nice and slow..
Anyway my favourite Aldi Acura 3 or 4 system.

They are just a marketing gimmick. The standard pink and purple ones from the major brands are plenty good for anyone, man or woman. No need for this 'mens razors' at all.

I haven't, I have a post shave balm i got from a barbers. It smells beautiful and leaves a nice shine.

I find it the opposite, womens razors are better and get closer.

I use a DE razor. Change blade every couple of shaves. Only times I ever cut myself were when I was using the same blade for more than a handful of shaves, the blunt blade tugs the hair up and the skin with it and you nick that.

Nothing hipster about it. I spent 40 euro towards the end of 2016 and haven't spent a cent since.

Might be at the higher ends I presume but common disposables like Wilkinson Sword are literally the exact same razor with different color plastic in most cases.

I usually just buy whatever's on offer in disposables. I shave every second day and one usually lasts a few weeks, typically it's Wilkinson Sword I end up buying.

Have tried the Lidl/Aldi ones and they're fine but not as good.

DE safety razors are what you should use. Get yourself something higher end like a Merkur Progress or Futur for an adjustable shave, and then (although worth trying a few brands here depending on your skin), you can get something like 100 blades for about 20 euro, and be sorted for years. I find something like a Feather blade can last about 3 shaves, and as I shave about once a week, I've like 5 years worth of blades for 20 euro. Only thing I have to spend money on then is shaving cream, and that's like about 10 euro a year.

Much better shave and much cheaper. Feck this Gillette nonsense.

Been using a Philishave for years now. Still on the original blades.

I'll never go back to wet shaving.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all
