The Tue/Thur FAO don't start until 5 June so I guess they don't relly need it fully until then. They must have some sort of plan either getting there own or maybe short lease from Hi Fly or something.

God help them if an aircraft goes tech, will be an extended Shannon without service I'd say!

Dont worry too much you will always have Norwegian operating if you need a NewYork or Boston trip. Thats if you can get a seat.

Methinks the Shannon Airport marketing intern is about to get a slap on the wrist, with literally nothing announced by IAG, EI, or Airbus, this is just an error on their part.

Hopefully they cop it soon, doesn't look good! I find that most of the marketing department in the airport are quite up to date on happenings in the airport, don't know what happened here but either a dangerous assumption or some misinformation along the line!

Edit: I see mention of it has been removed on Facebook :)

There was an Aer Lingus 330 in Shannon yesterday doing base training. Probably crossed wires

Today EI announced they will introduce a new uniform next spring 20 years after the current one was introduced.
Does anyone think this might be part of a brand and livery refresh? I’m very fond of the EI livery and wouldn’t want them to change much, but perhaps a slight alteration similar to what KLM did would modernise it?
Am I right in thinking the current uniform and livery were introduced together as part of a rebranding in 1998?

Livery was introduced in 1996 after the B747's left.
Uniform was introduced Summer 1998 for crew and post summer '98 for Ground Ops.

Even with the clarification from SNN twitter I saw some youngster on the DUB movements page getting all confused at an A330neo being in Shannon. He was wondering why IAG/EI didnt make a media announcement about its arrival.

Been on the list for some time, current uniform is well past its sell by date

How long's the EI Stobart one been around? I'm thinking not that long but those waist coats look like something from the 80's.

Stobart staff wear the normal EI one I thought?

It will be looked at once Aer Lingus can prove to IAG that replacement is worth the investment. IAG has a large A320neo order but most have been allocated to BA and IB already so EI will need to wait for top up orders from IAG in the years ahead.

The cost of the extra fuel burn of legacy aircraft is outweighed by the finance costs of the latest jets with current fuel prices, and with oil prices not expected to increase due a)falling demand with increased electric car and renewable energy sales, b) the US becoming self sufficient in oil for the first time since the 70s and c) Iran exporting again due lifting of sanctions, so the CEOs (320 and 330) will stay around for a while I reckon. It’s this reason why there’s been a relative dearth in sales for all new widebodies in recent years, it’s cheaper just to overhaul the thirsty older gen aircraft.

There was an article last week where WW said IAG did up a flight plan for a Level A332 vs a B788 in Norwegian’s configuration on BCN-LAX. The 330 burns about 6T more fuel, or $3,500 in today’s prices, which is far less than the extra cost of financing the 788.

6 tons more? I find that figure incredible as the 330 is an incredibly efficient aircraft or the 788 runs on fresh air. Has anyone a link to that article ?

    788 runs on fresh air.
The 787 really does run on air, I will get you some real world figures as we operate the 789, a333 and b773, the 789 is taking over a number of long 773 routes with fuel figures around 5000 kgs per hour.

With the present fuel prices, I find the economics of the A350 to be rather strange compared to the A333.

I will get back with some real figures.

Apologies, the article is actually from November, not last week. I’m blaming night shift. Here’s the link anyway

As per a friend who flies the B789 and is qualified on the A350, the 789 burns 5000kgs avg p/h with 289 seats @ M.85 and the A350 5800kgs avg with 320 seats @ M.85.

A350 or A330? LEVEL's claim was in regards to the A330

Apologies, figures are 350, I would assume 330 is slightly worse.

Worse how? The A330 is up to 50 tonnes lighter and carries less passengers. CASM is surely better on the A350 on longer sectors, but I would expect fuel usage to be much less on the A330 p/h.

A330 (at least in our two configurations) carry up to 296 passengers with an avg fuel burn of 6000 kgs, so more fuel, less seats and slower, so worse.
