    There is no anti-abortionist community.

You can decide for yourself, or perhaps have a doctor advise you, to go on a vegan diet for a month or two. Or a week or a day.

You don't have to turn into a crusty, or start wearing hemp, or travelling to Botswana.

Same with anti-abortionists. You don't actually have to be 75 and from Carlow, or stand around with abortion posters.
You can just wake up and think 'hey I disagree with that'.

The vegans, makes about as much sense as 'The football players' 'The chip eaters' 'the Greece going people'.

Go to Greece do you.....yeah you and your shorts and your bottle of water. I bet you eat chips.

Jesus - and you call other people snowflakes...?

    Anyway
1 - I'm neither vegan nor vegetairan, so I STILL have no clue what the **** you're on about.
2 - You were supposed to me telling what this has to do with the black/gay communities, remeber?

Out of context, makes no mention of the other poster calling me a snowflake.
Go back a couple pages. You'll find the first mention of snowflakes wasn't mine.

    Its really not that hard.

Certain people are on the protected list and cannot ever be questioned or criticized as one group. When it comes to these people generalization is the highest crime.

Others are fair game. Either because the food they eat isn't what you want them to eat, or their opinion on abortion isn't the same as yours.

Generalize away about these people. They're all the same. They're not one of the protected categories so you'll be safe from the wrath of boards' p.c. police.
    Snowflake.

    Snowflake.

People can post whatever they like - as long as it's not phobic or racist. What they lack is not the permission, it's the actual ability to construct said argument. And when they get banned or blocked they complain against the moderation despite their weak arguments.

Let's take your argument: the initial debate is about choice. People choose to be vegan and people choose to be pro-life or pro-choice. You want to make some comparison with being black or being gay, but feel that you'll be banned if you do. But the reality is that people are born black or gay, they don't choose to be. Hence, your argument is false and it's nothing to do with moderation.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Until I point out that religion followed is a choice.

No I think its just more of a case of certain people being ok, fashionable, and most importantly 'safe' to take the piss out of.

People are born into religions - more a case of choosing NOT to follow it, but that's going (even further) off topic.

Interesting phrases. "Take the piss out of" and "people".

If you're here to take the piss out of people, then it's safe to say you're not interested in debate and of course you'll be censored and banned, and rightfully so.

If you're here to attack their choices and opinions and do it properly, you won't be. It's that simple. But your post gives me the impression that's not what you're here for.

So a choice then. Like ... oh I dunno ... diet or voting preference.

Really? Thats news to me. Vegans and anti-abortionists don't get the piss taken out of them here. I'm pretty sure I saw a thread taking the piss out of ''the vegans'' collective entity that they are. All the same those bloody vegans.

Well no, I'm here to point out the commonplace cowardice and double standards that says 'anyone who does this is invariably like this' .... unless they're on the special list in which case so sorry so sorry I didn't say anything bad I promise.

Are you telling me you really can't see the difference, even after I explained it?

It's not taking the piss - it's debate
It's not people - it's attitudes. And there is no list of attitudes.

Are you here to 1) debate veganism or 2) take the piss out of vegans?
Would you prefer to 1) debate islamic/jewish/christian opnions or would you rather 2) take the piss out of muslims/jews/christians?
Can you you see the difference between 1 and 2 in both cases?
    1 - acceptable
    2 - warned/banned

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I focus more on the double standard.

I don't see people who take the piss out of vegans or anti-abortionists getting banned.

I'm fascinated by the potential of lab-grown meat. The only possible argument I see against it from a vegan might be that the "donor" animal couldn't consent to giving up a DNA sample.

Yes an unfortunate transgression that we would be obliged to take.
    The lesser evil.

Wish there was better vegan/vegetarian food in Donegal town for the number of restaurants in the town the choice is very poor.

Btw I can't seethe picture but I was in town at Lunchtime and didn't see anything

I was under the impression that the standard restaurant fare in Donegal was roast chicken and chips....

...Pesto might make a debut up there in 2071 or thereabouts.:pac:

Veganism is a lifestyle choice. Increasingly it is adopted as an Identity or affiliation but still a choice.

There is no choice in being either black or gay.

Your post is exactly why the 'snowflake' pejorative exists. Comparing vegans and their 'rights' to two groups who have arguably been oppressed and discriminated against forever is the height of ignorance.

We're bombarded with advertisements for pork products in the same manner as if we were bombarded with ads for smoking. Considering the direct link to cancer with consuming more than a minimal amount of processed pork, it is shocking.

I could be wrong, but I think the message that many seem to have missing in this post is that we (generally) don't make generalised statements about "the blacks" or "the gays", because these groups are far too varied for any such statement to make any sense. They share nothing but skin colour in one case, and general sexual preference in the other.

It's the same with vegans/vegetarians - all they share is the choice not to eat certain things. They don't even share the same reasons for this choice.
It doesn't make sense to look at them as a group and try to find anything they have in common other than what's not on their plates.

Maybe I'm still hungover or maybe I'm sleep deprived, but I totally read this as "Now the vaginas are at it!" and had an absolutely ridiculous giggle to myself there. Not sure if I should thank OP or my own filthy mind for the lulz. :D

But there is a choice in religion. And I'd argue in certain cases homosexuality is a lifestyle choice too.

What exactly are your universal rules for when one can/can't tar people with a brush. SOME people adopt veganism as an identity. The rest of the people out there who are permanently/temporarily eating a vegan diet shouldn't have to put up with your sht just because you don't like 'the vegans' whoever the fk they might be.

If you're the type to weep and march at the plight of certain groups, while later harassing other (supposed) groups then you're most probably a cowering little bandwagon hopper.
At this point you're either trolling or simply not interested in reading the explanations. I can do no more.

Your explanations were Boris Johnson-ish. You had to quit because you were up against reason and truth.
    Bye.

So is sticking a screwdriver into an electrical socket...

No one is forcing you to eat pork. Get over it.

And of course pork is delicious! Who wouldn't want to eat pork .... oh ya. Well more for the rest of us :D

True colours shown now Gozunda and just as I expected.

Sorry I wasted anytime ‘discussing’ with you on the vegan forum.

I should have trusted my gut and accepted you were on a wind-up mission.

But you're not "discussing" anything curently klop - your tendancy is to avoid rational discussion in favour of using soundbites instead of argument.

But do remember this is AH. And even if you followed me over here - I hope you actually read the post commented on? No? I'm sorry I really didn't know being vegan in this case also meant having no humour.

As compelling an argument as it is to laugh at your own joke I still stand by my initial argument. Additionally, your attempt at humor is weak and unfunny. Hence no one else laughing.

I prefer my critters alive and happy! A turning point for me, apart from the cost of meat, was raising a pet lamb and keeping hens and all manner of other critters.

I now hate the thought f eating meat. Occasionally a little bacon and part of the chickens I buy for the cats and dog go to make stock, but red meat is out

It is as others say, personal choice.
