Okay your entitled to your view.
People sometimes like to show she has double standards.
If your disliking a thread or the discussion on it then maybe the thread is not for you.

Or I can take part in the thread to air.my view and provide a bit of mich needed balance. Which is what I'll do

Nothing ridiculous about it. 'Asian' rape gangs have in the press since what, 2012? Telford is just latest. I'm wondering if Louise is as cowardly as most western feminists on this issue?

Her area of interest is clearly social interactions between men and women in western societies. Of she commented on the gangs in the UK then you'd complain she isn't standing up to FGM in pakistan. Or honour killings.

Campaigners usually have a limited area they campaign on. Because its IMPOSSIBLE to campaign for everything that bothers you.

She backtracked fairly quickly a few weeks ago when allegations against a hot press writer who gave her a good review emerged

    https://twitter.com/oneilllo/status/965631423284760576

She's well aware people are calling her out over her Tupac praising and if Heathers is her favourite film ever there's no chance in hell she doesn't know the backgrounds of the cast. She's been called out over and over about her statements, refuses to answer and gets a free ride from the hip modern media in this country.

Do you know the backgrounds of all the main cast members of your favourite films? I can't say I do personally.

I'm all for criticism of LON and there's plenty of material but some of the stuff levelled at her is pretty tenuous.

........ Criticising her for liking a movie where an actor has a dodgy past that she's very probably unaware of? Ridiculous.

she claims to not want to watch some movies because of the acters past. but then claims to love another film who has an acter with an even worse acuseations in his past.

if your going to make posts like hers you would need to educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself

So some information fell through the cracks. When an actor likely hasn't been in gossip columns for a very long time, that seems human enough.

she is making it her job to comment on such things. she should at least do a quick search to see if there are things floating about that would make her look bad for likeing it.

Because that sort of fabricated feminist nonsense is where the money is. If she commented on rape gangs in the UK I'd say a lot of people would respect her a little more for having the balls to do it.

She is privileged to live in a free, first world country where she has a national platform to air her views as well as free access to social media to air her views internationally. She claims to be a feminist yet she won't dare risk the wrath of her lefty fans by campaigning against rape gangs, FGM, or the fact that women are commonly treated like dirt in muslim countries. I think she stayed fairly quiet when all those recent protests in Iran were going on too. I believe that woman holding her hijab on a stick in that viral picture from those protests is in prison now. Not a peep at out of Louise who has a platform to be a voice for the voiceless, genuinely oppressed women of the world yet chooses to whine about patriarchy, rape culture, the gender pay gap etc. Concepts that exist largely in her own mind. In fact, she needs to push the narrative and give the false impression that these concepts are majorly prevalent in Irish life as that's where she makes her money and keeps herself somewhat relevant - all under the guise of being a "feminist".

She's a fraud, plain and simple.

But she's a feminist and as such it's hardly too much expect her to at least comment on what must be the biggest scandal involving women's rights in Britain in, well for ever.

We're talking about the trafficking, rape and torture of thousands of girls. Add to the fact that the police and social services did nothing due to fear of racism. Think about that, the authorities refusing to protect girls because they didn't want to offend the rapists!

But again it's not just her, it's a black mark on western feminism in general.

Actually it is too much to expect. She has her clear area of interest. Whether she happens to comment on anything outside of that is her business. It's incredibly bizarre that she is being monitored by people in this thread about an issue oitide her core area that she happened not to comment on.

If you watch a film over and over as she did/does with Heathers it's not credible that she doesn't know the actors history. She's been called out on it so I hope she responds as well as responding to the call outs on her woke bae 2pac.

She calls an alleged victim of an Irish journo a "poor woman" and has nothing but empathy for the now dead woman but 2pac's victim is still alive and I believe recently gave an interview that got some press coverage yet so far it's radio silence from LON.

I'm calling for her to retract her woke bae comment and fully condemn Shakur's action against the women he sexually assaulted. The ball is now in the court of her and her followers.

She's a fraud, plain and simple.

She once told her followers she could do with a '****boy' which was a disgusting and cheap thing to say. If a male said he could do with a slut or a slag she'd be the first to jump in and criticise.

I don't know if she's had the incident and comment put to her by any interviewer she's had dealings with.

The likelihood she'll hear your call is pretty much zero. Do you think you're a public figure or something? This thread is full on crazy.

if you dislike Tupac you need to re-evaluate your knowledge on Muhammad Ali, Nelson Mandella, John Lennon, Bob Marley. i could argue he was far less abusive towards women than them

Mike Tyson is portrayed as a monster, when he was just a scared kid taken advantage of by those around him(except for his original trainer/mentor Cus. but it could be argued he was a white man taking advantage of an exceptional african american). the whole incident that put him in prison is very sketchy when you research the case. look at what he is now, he always had the ability to be that person, but those around him didnt allow it to happen then

Sorry, I must have misunderstood your post. I was just trying to say that the thread is open for everybody to post here no matter how ridiculous some people might read into Louise's views once people are civil enough and that if you don't like the thread the best thing to do is to un follow it.

You seem to be very preoccupied with Muslims. So what did you do about improving situation of Muslim women, or are they just a convenient tool to harp on about Muslim religion.

Mike Tyson was a grown man with agency. He was not some victim of unfortunate circumstances. Independent witnesses verified DW's story in court. The doctor that examined her said her physical condition was consistent with rape.

What exactly makes you think Tyson could have been wrongly convicted?

He, and I, and many others talk about it and call out Islam for it's problems. We don't care about racism or Islamophobia. What do western feminists do? Nothing.

It's not just Islam though is. How many contributions did you make about discrimination of Irish kids by catholic religion. It's very close to home and one would think those are the issues to tackle first and not to solve the problems for people at the other end of the world that don't want them to be solved in the first place.

I don't profit from claiming to be a feminist. I'm not preoccupied with muslims at all, but you don't have to look very far to find crimes committed against women under that ideology. Your post is indicative of the western lefty attitude to islam and it's treatment of women though. The abuse and oppression of women is less offensive than someone pointing it out.

i wouldnt normally. but she is making it her job to comment on such things . she should at least have a look at the history of somone when she claims one film is great but cant watch a different one becasue of the history of one actror.

I call out pedo priests and I want to see those who enabled it in jail.

Now since you are a feminist, start calling out the rape culture that has been imported into the UK and elsewhere in Europe. I not asking you to go over there and save girls, just to have the guts to talk about it.
I expect police to tackle it and I expect politicians not to turn blind eye to it. However I think wast majority of rapes in Ireland are committed by Irish and more likely Catholics. It's commendable you are so worried about the rape but I think you might start campaining about those at home first.

No but I am not dumb enough to think we can go to Muslim countries and tell them what to do. Try to save them like in Lybia or Iraq. That went well.

Yeah because she has a valid excuse. As do all campaigners on various issues.

The crimes committed by the catholic church are regularly (and rightly) condemned and exposed by people in the media. Louise O'Neill alluded to them on Friday night. Only last week our ex president referred to the catholic church as a virus of misogyny and named pope Francis as being complicit. When will we see our public figures here having the stones to say the same about islam?

So you want to preach others before we resolve our own issues.

No one is asking Louise O'Neill to go to these places and fix the problem. Maybe just use her platfom to shed some light on the issue so she doesn't seem like a complete hypocrite. Maybe organise or show support for protests/marches against the treatment of women in these countries rather than march against the democratically elected president of a first world country in the west who received a sizeable portion of the female vote. Maybe, rather than push the myth of a "rape culture" in Ireland, highlight the actual rape cultures that exist in these countries and that are now being imported to western Europe via mass immigration.
