Thought eoghan clarke was pretty good at hooker, could see him pushing for a Leinster academy place, given need at the position.

Agree. Was impressed by him.went to Monkstown. Know much else about him?

Seapoint RFC mini, played 8 last year for CBC, prior to that he played prop. Made Ireland u18 as a LH Prop. Moved to hooker due to size afaik. Playing AIL this year for Wanderers.

Unless something major happens, Harry Byrne almost certain to get an academy place over Conor Dean IMO.

Hope to see more of Patterson at 9 to see if he has the stuff for an academy place.

Think Jordan Duggan has been good but not on the level of any of the looseheads who have made the leinster academy recently.

Jack Dunne/Cormac Daly both look good enough for an academy place.

Is there anyone else that would be a potential back row addition? You'd think with Heaslip and Murphy going, as well as Timmins potentially, that they would want a couple of guys just for depth if anything.

Ronan Foley, Max Kearney and Scott Penny would be the most obvious candidates.

I think Timmins will stick around.

I didn't... Doris is rumoured to be joining the senior squad next season.

I don't think Dean will get an academy deal with Leinster, at least not right now.

I wonder if Leinster will be able to get David Lacey to give rugby a shot next season over GAA as a under-20. Is he a Tarf man?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭irishfan9

Academy players Cillian Gallagher, Conan O’Donnell and Peter Claffey have all signed senior professional contracts with the Connacht for the 2018/19 season.

Yeah Des Berry posted the starting team for the game, but assume there was 8+ subs

    Sam O'Dowd(Pres Bray/Centre)
    Zach Harrison(St. Michaels/Wing)
    Sam Connolly(Roscrea/Prop)

Were three of the subs anyway.

Forwards did well considering size of the Canadians, 2 years makes a big difference. Guys in Blue did well considering they only trained for 2 days prior to match. Lineouts worked well, back play was good. Nice move in the second half allowed winger to run in from half way line without a hand put on him.

Jack Boyle who started at 1, isn't even 16 yet.

I wonder what Leinster will do at scrumhalf, the options are:

Paddy Patterson(u20/UCD-Blackrock) - in sub academy, missed start of season with injury. Made 1 appearance for Ireland u20 off bench, starting regularly in AIL.

James Kenny(u20/Lansdowne-Gonzaga) - injured most of the season, has made a few appearances for Lansdowne under-20.

Cormac Foley(u19/St. Gerards) - has been playing 12 this season in school, made Ireland u19 as a 9.

Do they overlook both players at under-20 and wait for Foley?
