Looking forward to Jessica Jones 2, the first season was excellent. I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been much hoopla about it though.

I found JJ Season 1 sinfully boring. Couldn't watch the last couple episodes. I don't see the appeal.

Her best role was 'Don't Trust the B......'.

I didn't make it past the first few eps of Jessica Jones, found it awful. But then, I find most Marvel-esq stuff to be awful, bar season 1 of Daredevil, that was good.

Same, I likes season 1&2 of daredevil, season 2 because of Punisher, but season 1 of Punisher, ugh, dragged on.

Feel like I'm over the Marvel thing the past year or 2.

Looking forward to what Lost in Space might be like actually, I'll give it a chance, it'll be family friendly but sure, no harm.

Agreed. I stuck with it thinking it was 10 episodes. It dragged awfully. I realized around episode 8 or 9 it was actually 13 episodes and I bowed out.

I found more holes in Luke Cage and particularly in Iron Fist than JJ1.

Luke Cage S2 will have another rap themed soudtrack/episode naming convention, each episode will be named after a Pete Rock & CL Smooth song.
The first series, each episode was named after a Gangstarr song.

Iron Fist killed off any interest I had in the Marvel series. Can't work up the enthusiasm to watch any of them after sitting through several episodes of that.

Like many things Marvel, I'd probably be more interested in JJ S2 if they hadn't shat out like six seasons of television since I watched the first series two years ago.

It was a tough watch, but necessary for the backstory for The Defenders.
In retrospect, it's hard to take the gangly framed guy as a superhero with awesome kung fu.

I thought The Punisher was ace though.

I actually didnt mind Iron fist, it needed more kung fu and to be darker like daredevil.

The Defenders however was a big let down :(

    I enjoyed Daredevil & JJ.

(Briefly) started and then didn't finish the other Marvel series though. Kind of half expecting that I won't enjoy the next JJ but will give it a go, first series I did enjoy.

He was such a whiny gimp that looked like he was going to go full Kevin the Teenager at any moment.

And the fight choreography was pants…

They missed a trick not fully embracing the kung fu side of things the way Luke Cage embraced Blaxploitation. That and the guy who played Danny doesn't really have the charisma and comes off too whiny.

The fight choreography was so laughable on Iron Fist, it transmuted the show into a comedy; IIRC, Finn Jones supposedly only had a month to prepare & train, but tbh when the main thrust of a character is fighting prowess, it's not really good enough to have the hero flailing around like a kipper. Or worse, dropping down onto the main villain like it's a scene from 60s Batman, only to run away. A lot of the cast were also laughably out of their depth, Jones included, with the guy playing Bakuto being one of the worst actors I've seen in a mainstream TV production. At least The Defenders had the smarts to sense the the misstep and mercilessly mock Danny Rand.

The amount of cuts and edits to the fight scenes was ridiculous.
The fight with the main villain, who doesn't know martial arts, against Danny, a Kung Fu master, and Danny is in trouble in the fight was also ridiculous.

I finished the latest season of Homeland last night, it was great up but didn't wrap up quite well enough for me liking. But a very enjoyable season overall.

Is season 4 the one that's just started airing in the US?

That's right; was pointed out in the iZombie thread in TV forum. I had just assumed they didn't have the weekly license in IReland again this year. But nope, we can enjoy season 4 as it airs :)

Cool. I was thinking about giving it another go, didn't warm to it initially, but didn't see the point if I was going to have to wait for ages to get the most recent episodes. I'll get stuck in now. :)

The Jon Favreau film which is like 90% CGI or the 1994 version?

I thought the Favreau film was a fairly pointless retread of the 60s film, shoehorning in some of the songs for nostalgia points. It differed slightly but it's not as good.

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,707 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

It's the Favreau one. Thought it was brilliant myself, wouldn't say the songs were shoe horned in at all considering it's a remake of the animated film.

I liked it better than the original.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

God I had forgotten about the 1994 version. Was that based on the book rather than the 60s cartoon? And if so, is the new version coming out a remake of it?

Liked the Jon Favreau movie very much, looking forward to watching it again with the family now that it's on Netflix. Saw it on a plane last time.

AFAIK 94 was very much its own thing (I've only read the first book), there were strong elements of Tarzan. Andy Serkis is directing his own version using mocap and Disney have also greenlit a sequel to the Favreau film.
