Or must I have a Saorview box or aerial?

Netflix, YouTube, etc. work like a dream through Chromecast.

It would be fantastic if Saorview channels could be viewed the same way.

    Thanks.

RTE 0ne, RTE two and RTE news all can be cast live from the RTE Player app on Apple iPad and iPhone.
Bizarre that RTE have not implemented it on Android but they are not renowned for their technical updates on the RTE Player.

Just to be clear; are you saying that, using the RTE Player app via my iPhone, I can use Chromecast to view those channels on my TV? I.e. NOT on my computer or iPad

    Many thanks!

You can Chromecast from your computer if you use Google chrome as your browser.

I currently Chromecast from my iPhone - Netflix and YouTube.

My computers are in an upstairs office, so using Google Chrome would be a pain.

If I can use my phone for everything, that would be great.

    Thanks.

RTÉ are coming out with a new version of their player which should hopefully include better chrome cast support and video quality!

Yes. Download the RTE Player app and you will see the cast button
    Works ok

    Are you sure?

I may well be being thick; but, I only see the option to video stream via 3G on the RTÉ Player app.

Are you Android by any chance? Is it possible it’s not available on iPhone?

If it is, I’m sorted. But, I can’t see it.

    Thanks again.

Ya it has a cast button top right corner of the home screen. Make sure you are connected to the same WiFi.
I am watching the news live on the bedroom TV now.
It's RTE Player 1.9.11 on my wife's iPhone 6. It's also working from our kids old iPad (7 year old iPad running iOS 9)

It's not available from Android at all and that's just stupid but we are taking about RTE here so I'm not surprised.

    Outstanding!

The cast button is exactly where it is on any other app. How did I not see it?!

    I’m definitely losing it.

Anyway, once our Sky sub goes next week, that will save me a lot of hassle. Only thing I watch on RTÉ is Champions League.

    Thank you!

When RTÉ doesn't support Chromecast on Android and TG4 from what I can see don't even have an Android app you will be waiting a very long time if you don't have an iOS device.

To be honest, I think I can live without Saorview.

RTÉ via the app in my iPhone (on the rare occasions I need it) plus Netflix, will keep me going.

    Thanks.
