Unfortunately these low life's are dragging the good name of 99% of the good decent people who live in the Dublin 24 region into the mud. I sincerely hope the justice system treat them with a heavy hand.

On John Connors.... cop on John.... there hasn't been a loaf of bread on a shelf for the last week ! You cannot condone this thuggery in the conditions that prevailed , when decent people came to the fore helping one another.

As bad as this is, the Gardaí minding the various crime scenes are praising locals for bringing them hot food and drinks. There's still community spirit in the area and plenty of good people.

Talafornian here. Not quite sure which is sillier, the over-zealous 'OMG lock 'em up' "men" or the 'OMG black kids' types.

Tallaght has always has an edge, indeed it is one of its defining associations, but it's not like this is ultra chaos, it's closer to an incident that can explode in an area like that, anything out of the ordinary encourages a kind of lawless atmosphere for a little bit, you should see Halloween. It can be intimidating, but it's not like life sentence territory. The guy in the digger deserves a few years for sure and anyone caught stealing an appropriate sentence, I presume it's what a year max? So, if an 18 year old guy stole bread, beer and whatever then for me a year in PRISON seems quite fine, I mean that's a year in PRISON, not a year in Costa del Sol.

About the black kids, sure, drop immigrants into that area then they will adopt the youth culture. The only difference is maybe the introduction of some UK slang, but it's not like the white kids are all nice and coy, I mean get off it, it's Tallaght, you are going to have street gangs no matter the colour.

Those calling for shoot on sight need to grow a pair. My god there are some spastics out there.

I grew up in tallaght. 99.9% of the people are good people. Let's get this straight. There are a small minority of scum who give everybody a bad name. They have nothing to fear. Even if caught they will be given free solicitors who will plead on their behalf how "it was out of character" or " they have problems at home" etc. Etc. After all that bull**** they will get a 50 euro fine. They will then complain that they can't pay as they are "only on the labour judge!" These lowlife need to be billed for there solicitors and made rebuild the Lidl they destroyed. An example needs to be made to deter others. The debt should hang over them whether they can pay it or not. Unfortunately it probably won't be. Btw. Once arrested these hard men will all cry like girls and grass up their mates.

Imagine the board of Lidl in Germany getting news that one of their stores in Dublin has been looted and almost destroyed. Shameful.

The guy in the digger has cause hundreds of thousands... Maybe millions worth of damage by collapsing the structure. What is an appropriate sentence? Not that he will ever see jail.

So what was he replying to? Cos from the beginning the videos of looting were showing people running out with trays of cans. I saw no bread.

Looting is looting, whether it's bread or cans anyway.

From pics on Twitter last night the looting went on in daylight hours. The damage to the building was later that night.

Think he was going on about the daylight hour looting.

Almost destroyed??? It’s completely destroyed. ****in rodents.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

Yes, I'm aware. It was still looting. And not some starving people desperately stealing a loaf of bread to stay alive. From the beginning it was trays of cans and anything else they could grab.

Nobody is starving after 24 hours of snow anyway.

John Connors having a meltdown, threatening to sue people.

Well after this little fiasco lawsuits will be his only source of income. This will be a case study in how a momentary mistake social media can destroy a career. Apart from the now unemployed staff of Lidl I suspect Connors will be the one who suffers most from this incident. The Criminal Justice Industry will take care of the "poor, socially disadvantaged" lads who did the actual looting and make sure they don't see the inside of prison.

I would not be surprised if LIDL decided to cut their losses there, but,

Given that the incident has now got both national and international coverage,
LIDL could play a blinder here and come out saying they will rebuild the store in the interest of their genuine customers and part they play in the community and not letting the scumbags win.

Take out a half page ad in a Number of newspapers with an open letter to their customers of LIDL Fortunestown.

It would go viral and LIDL in general would get some fantastic PR.

Looting should always be treated as a more severe crime than simply stealing “some beer, bread etc”. It is a crime against society.

It was on BBC radio news report this morning. Sounded like parts of Dublin were ablaze. Awful for the image of the nation.

A difference needs to be made between looting and stealing. There is a subtle difference but it is an important difference. Looting brings us a step closer to the breakdown of society.

Agree that it should not be made a thing about race though.

Taking bread to feed their families. Ffs! John likes to think of himself as something of a working class poetic philosopher, a deep tinker.

John Connors was condoning thieving. And I thought he was different... Lawsuit or no lawsuit, thats what he was doing in his tweet.

His initial post said it all.

This is why we need abortion on demand.
Might encourage the council house chasers to stop at one instead of a litter.

They breed like feral rats on these council estates, they should sterilised.

surely they will thrown the book at them, looting is never taken easily. look at the job the mett police did when the riots occurred over there. nearly tracked down everyone i think.

I think you will find that the original looters and the digger gang are not the same people.

Unfortunately I don’t think this will destroy his career. Rte will still lap him up.

However his horrendous performance in the cliche ridden cardboard gangsters might be enough. What producer thought he could pull off the sexy leading man status who can pull the local hot bird. He has bigger tits than the female lead ffs

John Connors proving why he can't get an agent or anyone to support him. Cry me a ****ing river.
A PR disaster for anyone. Uneducated fool

    "Robbing us everyday?"

    John Connors was wrong.

He was called out on it.

He twists it and calls anyone disagreeing with him as being racist.

His followers that agree with him are fcuking idiots.

The area where the looting happened has a scumbag element. If it didnt, it wouldnt have happened.

The good people of that area are the big losers in this. They need to start pointing fingers at the d1ckheads otherwise nothing will change.

If they dont, then I hope they enjoy living among the animals.

Pillow cases full of door knobs can sort that out.
