2.09 didn't have enough Mike. I still find it a bit odd how the tone shifts quickly between being quite light to serious/dramatic. This one was a case in point. However, the show's not going to change in that regard and there has to be some syrup in there. 2.10 - I wasn't sure if that was some half arsed critique of religious fundamentalists, or what. Hannah had some good lines. I was spoiled on the ending because I read too much of a paragraph over at the AV Club. That car thing is used far too much. Did Natascha McElhone want to leave? As said above, the scene with Kirkman's reaction was powerful. Lyor trying to conduct the choir was fun. :pac:

Kim Raver who played Audrey Raines in 24 appears in the second half promo.

Did Natascha McElhone want to leave?

She asked to be written out. She'll be starring in a Hulu show called The First next year - it's about the first manned mission to Mars (and the families left behind on Earth).

just caught up with it. Don't really know where this show is going. The daily sub plots are patriotic, sentimental and predictable.
Honestly if it didn't have Keifer I reckon it would be cancelled long ago.

Felt they killed off Patrick Lloyd far too early.

Back on Wednesday after a 2 month break, at this stage I could take it or leave it. I feel like its still too much of a new show to be taking that length of a break.

Its a weird show and definitely would be in danger of getting the boot if it wasn't for Kiefer, I reckon.

I'll probably go back to it but am not expecting great things from the rest of the season

I watch it for Jack Bauer, and will continue to watch it for Jack Bauer. Hell it has some good moments and that end scene of the mid season finale was powerful as anything you will see on TV these days. Kiefer just pulls me in all the time.

    Jaysus, that recap...:pac:

Crisis of the week - Cuba. Businessman bit of a dope for using a phone tied to himself. They didn't wallow in the grief too much, tbf - Tim Busfield acting as well as directing. Kirkman did get to do a Liam Neeson speech and 'send in the Marines'. Jack Bauer switch almost flicked at the end. Lior - light relief, as usual.

43 minutes of Emily walking the corridors would be fine by me.

I just assumed he got away and will pop back up at some stage

It was kinda OK this week. I'm a bit glued to it, only to see how things pan out. Me & Mrs generally sit & nit pick at the show.

Still, next week I'll watch again.

Argument in the Oval was good. I enjoyed the rest. Then that ending...

More shouting in the Oval. :pac: :pac:

Emily more in the background this week. :(

I enjoy that it's pure nonsense, perfect for a Thursday evening. Is there a phrase in existence for how bizarre it'd be if he ended up with the one who played his wife in 24? It has to happen, and then the countdown noise begins!

I honestly don't understand how anyone still watches this. I watched the entire first series. It wasn't great but I was interested enough in finding out who blew up the White House.

I watched about a quarter of the second series. Usually If I start watching something I stick with it to the bitter end but I couldn't take any more after the episodes about naming the frog after the president and the one where they spent an entire episode investigating who broke a vase.

Whenever I notice this on Netflix and see 'new episode coming on Thursday' it boggles my mind.

Ah it's easy-watching TV. Not every show will be The Sopranos/Breaking Bad/Narcos/<insert favourite here>, nor does it have to be.

It's the kind of show you can put on and watch without needing to think too hard about it, read 40 minutes of subtitles for "authenticity", or pay rapt attention to every scene. It's just popcorn action/drama with a conspiracy plot :)

I love the first kind of shows I mentioned too, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of fluff after a long day too - see also: The Flash, Scorpion, Suits, The Last Ship (which turned out to be far better than expected IMO!) etc etc

The show is cheese, and heavy on syrup too. I do get a kick out of every time he says SOB! :pac: The rest is fluff whilst dealing with a crisis of the week. They have the tone pretty nailed down for what it is.

24 style twist/threat at the end of 2.15.

    Slight spoiler alert below.

Probably shouldn't look into anything on this show too much but a big boo boo I noticed in the latest episode is that one of the SEAL Team Three characters was a Sergeant. Open to correction but there is no Sgt rank within the Seals. Should instead be "Petty Officer" etc.

Well what was the chances Kirkman was going to survive the plans to oust him?

There are some things that he does in the show that make him look presidential then there are others that make him look like a f**king boyscout!!! No US president was that squeeky clean.

Next weeks episode will be the last ever as ABC have cancelled the show. Wonder will Keifer consider going back to 24 now ?

All it needs is Frost to come back, Kirkman to get with her, then the ending is the 24 clock noise. It'd be hilarious and not out of place with the ridiculousness of the show.

And to tie up other loose ends too

It was a really promising show, ruined by poor writing and a totally aimless plot. Kiefer was great in it though.
