Lots of snow here overnight in the western surburbs of Cork City and still falling. Not going anywhere today. Sorry if someone's already posted this. But good advice here for what to feed the birds. They'd like fresh water too. Stay warm everyone!

Hasn't stopped snowing since I got up in Trim this morning at 7 am. A bit of a thaw going on though.

The accumulated snow is slipping off the sides of cars now. Currently 1 Deg and snowing

Celbridge. I helped push a car free, got bogged down in a drift... the person driving should not have been out.. no experience and kept stalling as we pushed them free.

For my area it is infinitely better than the met.ie radar. Doesnt seem to do Dublin well though.

I haven't been out at all, purely 'window-casting' from the St Wolstans Abbey end.

My husband just brought tea and toast down to some fella stranded on the main road. He's driving a little Citroën berlingo, luckily it's not white, it's blue. The van just won't go any further. He has a friend in a jeep coming to give him a tow but his friend is also having trouble driving. My husband told him that if he hasn't been picked up within the next hour, he's coming up to us until someone can get to him.
No idea why he's out driving, didn't ask.

Thawing like crazy here in north east meath

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,429 ✭✭✭✭km79

Not too much of a top up in THIS part of East Galway but all the roads are impassable all the same.
Looks like the heavier stuff went south and west of us fish a few friends have sent some amazing pictures of roads around clarinbridge . Galway city seems to have hit a good pasting too

    WORD OF WARNING.
Watch out for thawing snow sliding off roofs throughout the day. Enough of it can be quiet heavy if it falls on your head.

    And feed the birds!!

Can we just stop an appreciate how crazy this event is though that theres dubliners at sea level complaining about 'only' getting 4 or so inches last night :D

I actually got no extra net snow last night. Very strange considering the south side was buried.

Also Dublin tends to do well out of easterlies.

Anyway it is what it is. Enjoying what I have.
