Maybe this has been said before, but why do they keep saying ‘blizzard-like’ conditions? It’s either a blizzard or it’s not. If it’s ‘like’ a blizzard, it’s a blizzard

Anyone know of a website that gives the current amount of snow accumulations in each area/county/town? I have a number of options for travelling home, and want to assess which one would be best

I don't know of a website that does that but you might do better going to this thread and asking but list out your route options so people who might know can tell you.

Been out all day - what's coming in the next 24 hours?
    I'm in South Dublin

Quick scan through here suggests less snow tonight with blizzards tomorrow night?

Yes, I’m in Glasnevin and in about 40 mins of steady downfall we are seeing some accumulation. Guess my run tonight is off.

    Cork people to blame.

Windy and cold but no current snow in Drumcondra. Maybe it’s on route (crosses fingers as seeing too much “ground” )

What's with our obsession with bread? Went to Spar this morning, shelves full, back in at lunchtime, only a couple of burger buns left!

Radar is very promising for north Dublin with a decent stream of showers that will probably intensify as we reach the peak of this cold spell 850s temp wise with -15C over the Irish sea. South Dublin coast may also get something in a while - there seem to be some showers over to the north and west of Anglesey

All quiet in South Kilkenny for about 90 minutes now. Windy, cold and bright at the moment.

Been snowing for the past hour again in Maynooth but not amounting to anything, just light powder thats blowing about. Still deep cover from this morning but taking its time in adding to the depth

Presumably because it's a versatile food you can eat without cooking in case of power outages, but I agree the quantity of bread buying is a bit OTT!

I've told my kids many times about jumping out my bedroom window into the snow in 1982 and they've never believed it.

I'm hoping for similar by Friday so I can prove it. :pac:

Do you live in a bungalow?

Here in Rush in North Dublin it has been thawing most of the day with the occasional light flurry but unsustained.

Wind is blowing a gale though and from reading on here I’m expecting the snow again very soon.
