Then it will blow your mind that there are townlands beside each other in Meath called Muff and Knobber.

I have actually been on the Knobber-Muff road

Have you been to Beaverstown in Tipperary or North Co Dublin whilst you going or coming from Muff?

Pft, that's not cheated. I'm in the middle of the "red alert" here in Wicklow and there is nothing. It's actually a lovely sunny day here and got loads done around the place!

If they were over Dublin the site would be in meltdown

It's being discussed extensively on Liveline.

Very minimal thawing here in Clondalkin. I expect a few more light/moderate showers before sundown, before another quiet period, and probably of more explosive heavy showers overnight. Quiet morning tomorrow before ramping up in the afternoon. Many places will see prelude heavy snow showers before the actual band of heavy precip arrives Thursday evening.

Bit of heat in the sun here in Waterford causing some thaw.

If people think they have seen Blizzards already they are in for some surprise tomorrow evening :D

Would they be able to localize forecasts that well? What with the wind blowing snow all over the place, the snow doesn’t exactly obey county lines.

Good point, would probably need more stations.

Loads of snow in Athy. Had a clear spell at lunch so threw the drone up.
Had a mad scramble to bring it back when it started belting down again...

LOL :). Some counties are fairly big and have a range of topography/climate type so for example Wicklow could be split into coastal Wicklow, highland Wicklow and western Wicklow,.

Would be an actual Science based way of giving warnings instead of based on how the country was divided into counties a few hundred years which does not work as I've outlined already.

Would add subtelty to the warning system that more accuratly reflects what's happening on the ground.

So something like Parishes..Damn I don't even know the parish I live in...
