After the winter of 2010 I went out and invested in a pair of snow grips for my shoes
It never snowed a flake since I bought those feckin grips...

But now eight years later you can use them. Rejoice

On thursday I usually clock up 220 km in the performance of my duties. If I can't drive I can't work and I don't get paid. I might even lose customers over this snow. I don't like snow. It costs me money. It costs me work. I can lose customers if they do not understand the risks of being at the place of work entail. Loss of car. Loss of ability to work if disabled. Possible loss of life.

Get yourself winter tyres if so dependent on the car.

Has the weather forum ever been wrong?
I’m new enough here and last week was the first time I even seen there was such a thing.

Me too. Never got to wear them though, we had a feckin' thaw that night!

Now they can't be found anywhere but I just know I'll find them in July.:D

I read the weather forum and I feel like I should be building an insulated bunker, complete with tinned food and back up generator.
Then I wander over here and I'm like birra snow sure it'll be grand.

For those who CRAVE snow, go on a ski holiday for a week. You'd soon be sick of it!

Tesco opens at 7am. Think I will queue from 4am. Hope they won't have customer quotas on the bread and milk.

I'm just back from Tesco. Was panic-buying chocolate and cakes. Nothing to do with the snow - I do this every night.

We need to do the weekly shopping tomorrow. If the shelves are bare I’ll be mightily pissed off

Same, I actually think I seen someone mentioning "food rationing" on that thread. Anyone know any 24 hour shops where I could buy tyre chains, 60 meters of pipe lagging, a snow shovel and a diesel generator?

I remember Bear Grylls demonstrating one time how if you're trapped in the arctic and hypothermic, starving, frostbitten and under attack from bears and wolves that you can very effectively extricate yourself from the situation by wrapping yourself up in slices of Brennans Bread. The key for the successful survivalist is to purchase a sliced pan ahead of time.

They are sensitive over on that weather forum aren't they. Pointed out it's embarrassing that people are panic buying bread, milk and other food stuffs for a couple of days of snow and got a red card.

Did you know, a shark will only attack you if you are wet.

I heard on the radio earlier that "there will be zero visibility on Thursday". Those exact words were said, not maybe, not possibly, there will be. I don't care how much you know about weather but you can't predict zero visibility 3 days in advance.

Maybe you were listening to the News for the Blind.

Without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say its time for us to crack each others' heads open and feast on the goo inside?
