Oh sweet Jesus. That is utterly embarrassing by Timoney regardless of how good an effort it was from Beirne.

I think the weights machines in Ulster are used to hang wet jerseys on.

That’s one of the worst tries I’ve ever seen conceded. Gibbs would be better off heading to Australia. There’s nothing he can do here. You can’t fix the utter lack of depth in the squad in a year or two.

Kiss has to go after this shambles ......

Every parent of a rugby player, coach of a rugby player and rugby player should watch that try by Tadgh Beirne. That is template of what every coach has meant when they've talked about working hard in defence.

Ulster spirit completely broken. Guys looked like they didn't want to be out there. The pack was absolutely battered by a largely second string Scarlets pack.

The backs actually looked sharp enough and threatened when given clean ball but the forwards were utterly trounced.

Ulster are in real trouble for European qualification at this stage.

Just watching that again. Getting stripped on your own line off your own scrum is just nowhere near good enough from a pro flanker. The backs in general looked good, although McCloskey and Bowe has mixed bags I thought. But Ulster are going nowhere with that pack. And how do you fix that if there aren’t guys coming through the ranks?

To be fair he has been forwards coach of that lot for almost a year now so he has to take his share of the blame.

Anyway I didn't watch it tonight as I could see us getting smashed a mile off and I'm on a rugby high today after the earlier 6Ns game.

Ulster rugby will not bring me down

I sort of hope we don't qualify for the Champions Cup as it will a lead to a root branch review.

The downside if the loss of finance and it will affect our ability to sign a decent out half and back 3 player.

Edinburgh 51 points:

Munster H
Connacht A
Ulster H
Scarlets H
Glasgow H

Ulster 46 points:

Glasgow H
Cardiff A
Edinburgh A
Ospreys H
Munster A

Ulster have to win at Edinburgh.

It's fortunate that Benetton lost to Connacht today as they were creeping up behind Ulster.

That Scarlets 2nd side is not bad.
Dan Jones at 10 is a real talent. They have plenty of strength of depth and like Leinster all the back up players have the skills to play a quick offloading game. Beirne and James Davies in the backrow could match anyone.

Ulster may be better off out of the CC as a big rebuild is needed.

It would be nice to have a Connacht Ulster playoff though.

:pac::pac::pac: and that just about sums up the joys of being an Ulster fan.

No surprise. They were a bit too proud of that 'wrapped up' photo, which is unlikely to do much about closed roads and airports!

Turns that fixture into a much tougher one btw, presumably it'll be rearranged to a time when they have their Six Nations players back.

The snow isn't really lying that much in Belfast at the moment, but I think the forecast from Thursday night through to Saturday morning is brutal. I'm a bit surprised they didn't leave it another 12 hours before making the call. But maybe that would be delaying the inevitable.

The forecast was pretty bad yesterday, but it's gotten much better for Belfast. Looks like we'll dodge the worst of it. I imagine the scrubbing is in consideration of folks travelling from the more afflicted parts...

What happened to McCloskey? He seemed like the coming man for Ulster and Ireland a while back.

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,

Nothing really. Schmidt doesn't fancy him much for whatever reason. He still does well for Ulster, although he has become a bit one dimensional, possibly down to some grim coaching.

Is Peel the backs coach? Hard to tell if it’s coaching or just a general malaise with Ulster at this stage.

One dimensional bosher who can only play 12 and continues to make the same mistakes

Continually gets over the gain line taking at least 2 defenders to stop him. Great at getting his hands free in a tackle to give the ball on. Good at holding an opposition player upright in a choke tackle.
Along with Ludik he's been one of Ulster's most consistent performers this season.
What's the same mistakes he continually makes?

Ludik???? I swear he gets on my nerves watching him. If i see him or any other back 3 shepherding a ball into touch instead of picking it up ill rip out what little hair I have left.

What do I know? East Belfast has had a decent dose of snow this morning. Ulster rugby have done well to call it early.
