WW1 battlefield tour. Bring the car or rent one?

Hi all, Trying to figure out whether it would be madness to get the ferry to France (Cherbourg and 4hr drive to base in Amiens) or to fly and rent a car there? Been told Amiens would be a good base and have Major and Mrs's Holts Guide. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Cheers

I think it's easier drive when you're in a car with the wheel on the correct side for the roads. I would rent a car.
