    Hi,

I have a Baxi Solo 2 PF boiler (assume its pretty old?) in my house and since I lived here it has only ever heated the rads - we never had hot water.

Today I did a bit of troubleshooting and found out the thermostat on the heating element in the cylinder is faulty , this is now sorted and I can heat water via the immersion.

Should I also be able to heat water in the cylinder with the boiler? All valves are in the open position , any ideas?

    Many thanks.

You should have that option but it’s possible to plumb without it. A few pics of the hot press might help.

Im no plumber, but on my system I turn the room thermostats to zero and the water heats. My plumber told me to do that, heats the water in no time.

Works for you, but it would not be a common setup.

Ive no idea. Might be the same setup as the OP though. Is it a bad setup? Only built the house 8 years ago, should it be set up some other way? Ive found a few issues with the electrics already, had to get stuff redone, hope its not a shoddy job on the plumbing as well!
