Not a recommendation, just a Netflix question.

Anyone know why only half of the last series of Mad Men is available?

You mean the final episode I watched wasn’t! I thought it was a pretty good ending too.

But the difference here is that these films had release dates. It's not just independent junk, that normally pops up i.e. ARQ, Spectral, etc. These are big studios with moderately expensive films, and with relatively big name actors, that are being offloaded to Netflix to save on promotion and distribution costs, because, when it comes down to it, the studio knows the end product is not up to standard.

It's more than just clickbate, it's an interesting insight into how the industry is changing.
I dont know if in this case all the films arent up to standard as you put it (e.g. Annihilation) (I mean it is directed by Alex Garland who did Ex Machina - full reviews are embargoed but the opinions I have seen so far are overwhelmingly positive).
    Early reaction here - http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/annihilation-review-first-reactions-netflix-alex-garland-natalie-portman-paramount-ex-machina-a8202286.html

It is interesting that it seems to be getting a cinema release in US and China but not here, I think it seems like more in this case they are hedging their bets, thinking it might be a bit too niche to make it worth a cinema release here money wise.

Yeah. No matter how hard they try, a studio can never fully predict how a film will be received, or how it will preform. If they choose to go down the Netflix route, that's half the battle, its out there, people will watch or they wont.

I was listening to a podcast with Seth Rogen the other day, and he was talking about a film he produced which is to be distributed on Netflix, "Game Over Man" was the name, and he was saying its was a strange feeling not having to worry about the performance, or it losing money on it and there was a lot less pressure and stress, and the only thing he hoped for now, is that people liked it.

Duncan Jones, whose next film will be Netflix exclusive, shared some bittersweet thoughts on the Netflix process recently:
It’s really, really hard. There used to be a time when middle-budget movies had support from the independent arms of the studios to make films in that $20 million to $40 million range. And that just disappeared. It’s gone. Dead. So, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, these places have started to pick up the slack. And I’m incredibly grateful for that because, on a creative level, it’s now an outlet for different kinds of movies to get made. So that’s a huge “pro” in the situation. The “con” is you have to play by their rules. And as much as it hurts me sometimes to think, God, there’s never going to be a big opening of this movie, we’re never going to get the chance to show it on huge screens everywhere and do that side of it. There are not even going to be DVDs or Blu-rays. So that part of it is not ideal. But the benefits: if Netflix hadn’t picked this up it wouldn’t have gotten made. That’s just the truth of the matter.

Sky have the last 6 or 7 episodes and aren't letting them go, out of spite I suppose.

Creed is leaving on the 16th February. Another one I've been meaning to watch but haven't gotten around to yet.

I feel like that only went up a couple of months ago. Well worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

Watched the first two episodes of Star Trek Discovery tonight and looking forward to catching up. Not a massive a Trek fan so I don't have much expectations of fan-baggage going in. Just wish I hadn't had certain recent revelations spoiled for me.

Would it be on Now TV? If so you could take a two week free trial to binge it.

    This too shall pass.

Dirty Money was very good especially the second episode on PayDay loans.

Maple syrup is a dangerous game to be in as well who'd have thunk it.

Really enjoyed Manhunt-Unabomber. I gave up on Marcella. Found it too morose and annoying.

Really enjoyed the 4 episodes of Dope following all the sides involved in the drugs war/industry.

Another great episode of Letterman with Clooney.

A pity there are only 6 episodes to this series and hopefully they can get Letterman to do more.

I would to see Clooney's wife being interviewed see seems a really really cool woman.
I dunno, we watched this the other night and it felt a bit boring.. the trip to his parents house seems a bit disjointed.. I preferred the Obama episode..  Clooney seems to be well set though.. the tequila business looks like a major winner!

    Yeah, it was alright.

Thought it was going to glamorous scumbags like mad.

There's a decent underlying moral to it.

I enjoyed it, the Obama one was better though as he is a much more engaging speaker. George would start to make a point, pause, then start the point again, so not as free flowing.
But you could see that once he started talking about Sudan thinks flowed more freely for him.
I did find out a lot more about him though and Letterman as well.

Watched this over the weekend - was expecting more from it. While I enjoyed it...I didn't think it was great or brilliant!

I watched it last night. I thought it was poor enough, nothing new same auld gangster by numbers spiel.
Love/hate would be a good few levels up imo.

Started watching black mirror, first 3 episodes.

It's good but I find it very odd.

Does it stay like this throughout?
