Ah grand, so him and Bressie only spoke about their mild mental health disgnoses at the beginning and built up to their deep dark depressions?? Like a song or a movie draws you in before reaching a crescendo?? Or like when you see you can make money out of something and have to keep adding to the story so it doesn't become stale.

I have no idea man, I don't answer for either of them. Couldn't tell you why they'd talk about one experience one week and a different one another week. Couldn't tell you why they don't use the exact same language every time. I'm not about to call bullsh!t on everything they say because of it though.

Thought this was actually quite apt to this conversation. For both sides of the discussion.

I have in the past, so I can see from my experiences when I was down that he's talking nonsense.
Do you mean you were down, or depressed? Were you suffering from depression, or treated clinically for those things or you just went through a rough patch and came out the other side.

See there's a lot of different ways to look at it. I suffer anxiety (medically treated) and as a result of my anxiety suffered from agoraphobia, which is not a nice thing at all and as a result of agoraphobia suffered from depression. It's a bit of a vicious circle. I'm not male so the part of the discussion about how men could better help themselves isn't particularly relevant to me but yet I can understand it and relate to it despite that.
It just boggles my mind the level of denial that goes on when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. If I were to believe everything I read here, it only affects men and how mostly, it's probably because women are the cause of it and that seems to suit a certain sector of society and by all means if that's what makes you feel better go with it. It certainly shouldn't invalidate other peoples experiences at the same time.

I was clinically depressed and treated for it. Attempted suicide numerous times. And now I am out the other side, bar a few minor slips.

Glad to hear you are out the other side - it's a real epidemic. Really very tough for everybody, particularly the person going through it.

    I have posted this before.

Blindboy made a huge sweeping statement when he said that Feminism is what young men need. And he did it on National TV.

He never qualified it, never caveated it, never explained what aspects or strains of Feminism should be investigated and ignored. Again he did this on national TV.

Actually, he did. I think you need to rewatch the interview.

A LOT of modern Third/Fourth wave Feminism that is out there and visible is highly toxic. Its central message is that White CIS Gendered men are the enemy and that they are oppressors. Of Women, of minorities, of trans people as well.

Now this may not be visible is, or as visible, to older white men who do not live in the digital world. But it is visible to young men who are inhabiting the digital world almost constantly now.

How toxic this strain of feminism, and I use the word strain because it is a virus, can be seen in the way that it treats REAL feminists like Camille Paglia, Germaine Greer or Julie Bindell. Hell even Margaret Atwood has been getting it in the neck recently from these Third/Fourth wave feminists.

And this is the feminism that young men need?

Blindboy needed to be very clear and very careful when he delivered the message that young men needing feminism.

    He was neither.

And that is why he is getting criticism for it.

You’re wrong. He qualifies exactly what he meant.

    Link, where?

Days being shyte does not equal depressed. Listening to anything you like, be it a podcast, song or an album will help you feel better if you are having a bad day. You're really scraping the barrel.

So now you're diagnosing that poster with "shyte days" rather than them being depressed?

Sure maybe you were just having a "shyte day" indeed

I didn't diagnose anyone, I quoted his own words from his own tweet.

Indeed I was, horrifically shyte, and more than one day, however I was clinically diagnosed as being depressed also.

And the person you completely glossed over admitted he went back to counselling after listening to those podcasts. Do you know if that person was diagnosed as depressed? No, you just decided he was having "shyte days".

Care to point out where in the tweet he said that??

"Walking to officially sign off the dole, in the snow, after nabbing a job, listening to @Rubberbandits. Your podcast helped keep me going when my days were very ****e. You're a sound c@nt."

I haven't been talking about that post. The one I am referring to was posted at 18.20 yesterday evening, I don't know how to link directly to it.

Of course The RTE licence fee funded parasite doesn't challenge him on any of this. This further strengthens my suspicion that he is a lecturer in some deadbeat course like gender/media studies.
Come to think of it, where have I heard "patriarchy" before? Lol

It's a feminist, cultural marxist slogan word.

If I were a disaffected young male and you were a woman I could probably report that post for trolling and also attacking the other poster. But I'm not so I probably won't and nobody's feels will get hurted.
