I'm applying the 50 move rule.

Seems to me that, with the agreement of both players, this could be infinity.

They would fall foul of the 50 move rule concerning pawns.

    Edit. Damned predictive text!

The fifty-move rule in chess states that a player can claim a draw if no capture has been made and no pawn has been moved in the last fifty moves (for this purpose a "move" consists of a player completing their turn followed by the opponent completing their turn).

I would therefore say that provided the premises are comfortable and the beer is good the answer is infinity.

Yes, you're right. If the draw isn't claimed the game could go on indefinitely.

    We shall await the result.

I've since looked it up and the answer is not infinity. Just as well as the pawns could taste a bit stale even with Marie Rose sauce.

Based on memory from years ago when I used to play competitively (school level) - the answer is 5898 when following the 50 move rule.

If you want to make a connection with antelopes get in touch with Irish Roots or Genealogy Ireland. I hope it's very far back. :)
