Why can't you get good Coke in Ireland?

The only Colas you can get here are made with high-fructose corn syrup. I think it is safe to say Cola made with cane sugar is about 50 times nicer.

Dealz and 2 Euro shops used to stock Jones Cola a while back, but they stopped stocking it for one reason or another (possibly due to pressure from Coke Cola and Pepsi?). They still stock a lot of their other drinks, like Blueberry and Orange and that. But no longer have the Cola.

Mexican Coke is actually a thing, as American Coke is made with high-fructose corn syrup. Mexican Coke is made using cane sugar, and the taste is phenomenal.

I don't drink fizzy drinks most days, but from time to time I'll get a Coke/Pepsi if I'm having a burger or pizza.

I want high-fructose corn syrup to be banned, and all fizzy soft drinks should be mandated to use real cane sugar.

I thought Irish Coca Cola was made with sugar and not HFCS? I have had "Mexican Coke" while in the US... I didn't think it was all that special. The standard Coke in the US isn't as nice for sure and fountain drinks are worse again. I might have a can of coke once every month or two so maybe I am not a connoisseur.

Keep an eye out for Fentmans Cola. It's fantastic. Tesco used to stock it. Last place I saw it was in one of the old Superquinns (Now a Super Valu)

Fentiman's Curiosity Cola is lovely. Can be hard to find, though.

It's not a cola, but Bundaberg Root Beer is pretty damned good, too. It tastes mental, like a Deep Heat-flavoured cola, so it might not be for everyone.

Just checked the Tesco website there and it's nearly all Coke and Pepsi, except they do have one Cola in stock with cane sugar called Fever-Tree Premium Cola. So I will give that a try later.

Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer Street have all the range of Fentimans. Different size bottles too.

Pretty sure that Coco-Cola in Ireland does not use high-fructose corn syrup. That is an American phenomenon (tragedy).

Yea the tesco site has sugar not hfcs on the ingredients list

It doesnt. Coke in ireland uses sugar. But not the cane sugar in mexican coke.

HFCS is banned in the EU afaik. We're all fat enough as it is without that stuff (fructose is the good stuff if you want rolls of flab).

It is not banned in the EU. there is an quota on it though that is due to end.

Mexican coke and Irish coke are the same afaik. They’re made with sugar. I don’t think HFCS is used in the EU.

I have a bottle of Coke beside me and just noticed the label doesn't say what sweetener is in it. I'm pretty sure only America has corn syrup though.

The label says 'classic' which seems pointless. I'm unaware of 'new' Coke ever being a thing outside of America.

Coca cola (boo to diet n zero) is the only cola worth drinking, couldn't care less what unhealty sh*te it's made from as it tastes amazing and i only drink it the odd time
