I'm asking as you don't seem sure about buying it at massive massive discounts.

What gave you that idea ?

I was more then sure about buying at massive discounts today..

I don't take it too seriously if that's what you mean..

No need to act the maggot pal. Lot of people have lost big today. Don't rub it in. The butcher comes to those who don't know they are meat. Watch your back or you'll end up on a cold slab with sharp blade ready to carve you up.

Hopefully the massacre is over. A lot of people have lost a lot of money.

The butchers manipulating the market have done enough damage. Now let us trade in peace.

I haven't participated but I don't see the harm in a bit of light hearted humour to brighten up what has been an pretty awful few days.

Really no need to be calling on the mods to give someone the chop

This thread should be to stay a breast of what is happening in the market, the steaks are high for many people.

We already have a thread for off topic fun, why not use that instead of entertaining angry Brendan

You are right but as long as it isn't a huge overall issue in the thread for prolonged periods I don't see the harm. The modding situation on the forum as a whole is very bad. Most of them don't seem to be active and they do very little for the community as a whole.

Mean while on-topic. BTC on the the absolute tear back up at the moment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 657 ✭✭✭Shauny2010

It is for sure, yesterday was the day to trade the BTC/Altcoin pairs. I picked up Neo and Stellar lumens for 0.0012 Btc and the lumens at 0.0004.Today they are up at 0.00138 and 0.00047 so nice gains made.
I had gotten Nano at 0.011 earlier in the week and they sold at 0.021 BTC Yesterday .
There is gains to be made with these drops and shakeups just by sticking to the top 20 coins

I expect Bitcoin to rally now as it is cheap when compaired to the Altcoins

Some battle going on. Huge resistance currently around the $9.4 level. Been an assault at it 4-5 times today which have all been smacked down so far.

And what about the Tether cloud hanging over it (and other crypto's)? Until that's all out of the closet fully, I'm not comfortable in buying back in. Could end up being a bull trap.

Yes you are correct, it could well be a Bull trap.
I try to keep an open mind on everything, and I am a bit skeptical of the establishment. The likes Goldman Sachs telling us not to buy bitcoin, its a scam and ponzi etc yet it turns out that they have their own crypto trading desk in operation since 2015.
The Tether issue has been known about with over a year now at this stage it didn't magically become know last week. My gut feeling is they are covering up something, it could be that they have not backed every Tether with USD but with Bitcoin. Who knows, its all speculation at the moment and they could be above board but now cannot say so for legal reasons.
We saw the Chinese ban crypto trading early last year yet after an initial fall back it rallied 1000%

At the end of the day only invest what you are comfortable with, if a large fall in the price stresses you out then you have too much invested

It was known about but it was never discussed in terms of it potentially propping up btc until this week (why, I don't know). Furthermore, we had a new instalment this week. They had responded by appointing an auditor with a view towards publishing that report. That would have pacified some. This week, they ended their relationship with said auditor.

I can't see how it's logical to buy in right now until we know for sure which way this is going (unless one is to speculate that it's not an issue - and buy in on that basis).

If you know there will be or is likely to be a large fall - then I don't see how it makes since to go 'risk on'. If you are confident that it won't turn out to be an issue, then I do.

Why were you comfortable being involved in the markets while the whole Tether thing was known for ages prior to this or is it the added media scrutiny?

These are all still conjecture at the moment. They are worrying but it seems an odd reason to sit on the sidelines. I mean if I wanted to base my decisions in these markets on conjecture I could just as easily side with the viewpoint that the one man campaign by Bitfinex'ed blog was awfully convenient thing to pop up from nowhere and spread baseless FUD. The paradise papers did add credence to the claims.

If I was Bitfinex and smart which I presume they are, then creating a blog that starts FUD which would eventually get rolling as an actual story seems like a genius move. Sink the price of BTC. Buy a load really cheaply. Price soars = PROFIT. It would be a much better long con than the one proposed. They could even show at some point they have the millions to back up Tether and really capitalize. At the moment though they have information on the market which no one else has which is a huge advantage so if they are straight then they will withhold that information as long as possible.

Do whatever makes you feel comfortable but in a market with huge inherent risk all around, picking one and taking it as a reason to sit on the sidelines doesn't make sense to me at least.
