Articulated permit worth it?

    Hello,
Probably asked before but not recently..

I have the C permit for nearly two years never got work with it although I have sought work using this. I am 45 and wondering if its worth doing the artic course. I know people are getting out of the industry etc and its better and safer to "stack shelves" according to a lot of drivers but do I increase my chances of getting a job driving a truck (RIGID or ARTIC) by obtaining the artic permit?. I am not highly motivated by driving an artic in Ireland but think that I would dramatically increase my chances of getting work by obtaining it. Any drivers or learners got any views on this? The artic looks hard to do, I don't want to sign up for lessons if my heart is not in it and my heart won't be in it if I don't get much work after doing it.

I can't really say if it's worth it as a career move but do you mean a full licence or learner permit for the rigid? If you mean learner permit, you will have to have a full C licence before going for a CE learner permit...

The hours as a driver can be long some days being 15 hours long working weekends starting early in the morning to overnight trunking the list goes on, As for the pay some get paid an hourly rate others by the day.
Experience is nearly always required a lot of lads have left the industry myself included, Would I go back only if it was my last option for a job.
