Advice please on how to sell Canon 700D plus kit

Hi,

I was gifted a Canon 700D in late 2014 and have subsequently been given lenses and a flash, all Canon. The problem is with 2 small kids I rarely get to use it so I am thinking of selling it. The camera has taken just over 8000 shots.

What is my best option to sell at a fair price?

Some examples of used bodies for sale - £299 seems to be the price of these. It may well be the case it would be about 1500 new - but its not a new model and people will only pay the going rate for it.

I only priced what you told us about. A lens can be €30 or €20,000, without details we can't advise there.

£300 would be body + kit lens. A flash might be another €80. Rest, check ebay sold 2nd hand listings.

It's a four year old camera that's second hand.

Just look at the prices online and put it up for similar.
Don't think that it's worth more than it is based on what it cost new, four years ago. Lenses hold value better than cameras, generally.

The longer you wait the less it'll be worth.

Maybe with to small kids it's worth more to use taking photographs of them.

If you're not desperate for the money, I'd recommend keeping the kit and, as Effects has said, using it to take photos and videos of your children. Assuming you've got a decent selection of lenses (50mm and a 200mm-ish zoom) you should be able to record much better footage than you'll get with a phone.

Depending on the age of the children, if/when they see you using a DSLR rather than a phone, and the shot's you get, they'll also gain an appreciation of what it takes to make a good (or great) photo. Once they're over the age of seven-ish, let them loose with it at every wedding, funeral and other family event and you'll get some great shots.
