The engine recently failed on my car, I've dropped it into a local mechanic. He tells me it's uneconomic to overhaul due to the value of the car, overhaul could work out about €2,000. Engine replacement is an option he suggests.

He says he's finding it difficult to source an engine for it and that the replacement engine must have the same engine code as the original or it won't start when fitted, he mentioned something about a sensor wire.

The engine is a Z13 DTJ type, and from the log book 1.3 CDTI 69BHP (1248cc). There is a DTH listed for the model.

The engine I believe is used in other cars Astra, Panda, Punto, Swift etc.

    Is his information correct?

What is the problem with the car ?
Two years ago, I got piston rings worn out in my car and a mechanic wanted to cost me around €1,500 for an overhaul. He suggested me to fit with a second hand engine due to value of the car which could be a cheaper option. I decided to overhaul it myself, and all was €200 for things purchased at Toyota dealership and the car is still running perfectly now.

BTw, I could look at this https://www.findapart.ie/200722/2009-OPEL-CORSA-1.3L-Diesel
