    Hello,

I am looking to get a Flue installed.

I emailed one of the first companies in Dublin that came up in Google for a price.

they rang me and advised it was be between 2000 and 3000 euro to install the Flu.

When I questioned this crazy price and said I don't see how it can cost so much to pull a metal tube up the chimney they got very pissed off and told me to go and do it myself then and hung up the phone.

    Am I missing something here???

The flu itself is about 200euro to buy, what is the other 2800 for?

I got my whole 3 bed house plastered for 2500 which took 2 weeks! It hard to see the comparison.

    Oz :)

Tbh the price may be a bit expensive.
However if they are legit they may have to put scaffolding up to work at height (regs)

Personally i done it myself for the parents house. Its a heavy piece of flue so you need to be fit to do it. But once the flue was in the bulk of the work is putting the vermiculite in around the flue. that took about 2 hours worth of emptying bags around the installed flue and shacking it to get down the sides.

    Ok cool

did you go up onto the roof and just drop it down?
did you pin it to the top somehow to prevent it from sliding down?

Quite often the top three on a Google search are paid ads. Not always but sometimes these can be more expensive than the ones below the ads.

There are different grades: 200 i suspect is for the cheapest grade which will last about 2 years

Dropped it down. It's tied to the top of the chimney cut to fit then lid attached to it .

It's easily done but easily fall off the roof too. Safety first

Decent flexi flue is about 55 Euro a metre.

Our Flexi flue was dropped from the roof down the chimney. As far as I know the flues come in two different grades and in a number of different diameters. Check that you're pricing the best option.
