Cost to take down a chimney

    I have been told by builder that my chimney needs to be taken down.Its a 2 bedroom terraced house.
    Anyone have a idea of cost?

    Why dles it need to be taken down? Did he say take down & rebuild?

    Said it wasn't repairable, needed to come down.
    More expensive to rebuild

    Ignoring the whys and the hows..
    I had one taken down as part of a rennovation of 3 bed semi. We did it to get more room for ensuite and downstairs loo.
    It was in the centre of the house...so it wasn't attached to my neighbour, as often is the case.

    As i say i was having lots more done ... but the cost for removing the chimney and making good (covering up the roof, completing the joists/floorboards on 1st floor, making partitions on ground floor) was approx 3.5k
