Boiler Advice: Ideal Logic, Wolf, Viessman, Bosch

Hi there,

I've a 10 year old Sime Format and it's needs to be replaced. The water is hard and I've been given a few options and I'd like to know it anyone has and advice.
Ideal Logic, Bosch Worcester, Viesmann Vito-dense. Wolf Boiler FGB .

Personally i would go with the bosch or Viesmann and yes any RGI can fit them.

I too live in a hard water area. I have a Logic. Just fitted last week. Working a treat. Bosch was recommended but was much more expensive.

Thanks, I got a call from an RGII which is affiliated with an energy provider. He was suggesting Ideal Logic. I asked about a Viessmann, he said I'd have to run a new 3/4" gas supply to the boiler.When I rang Viessmann, they said that could be a RGII requirement due to the minimum pressure needed for a boiler , I think he said 18millibar. Viessmann said their boiler can work as low as 10 millibar. However, if I wanted a Ideal Logic, I wouldn't need a new gas supply run??

The difference in the price between a Viessmann/Bosch and Ideal was about 300

Any advice

If both boilers are the same kw output both require the same amount of gas and the same size pipe as the formula for pipe sizing a gas pipe is based on the kw requirement of the appliance.

Telling you a boiler can run as low as 10mbar is typical salesman kack and meaningless as gas appliances have always had to meet a given criteria for safety sake and lower working pressure values only suit those who wish to do a incorrect job.

You are only allowed a 1MB(giving you a reading of 19mbar) drop between the meter and the furthest appliance with all appliances running at their maximum output.

With some boilers if your testing at the gas valve your allowed a extra 1-2mb drop due to possible restrictions within the gas valve.
