Any recommendations for a series with short episodes (20\30 minutes ) that myself and herself could watch over dinner in the evening ??
    Something lighthearted!
We watched the entire US office over a few months and loved it .

For nightime viewing I think we will give Dark a go next week

    Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Watched the film Their Finest. Really nice film and quite sad as well. Set in London during world war 2 , starring Gemma Aterton. Would recommend it.

Anyone watch Letterman and Obama yet?

    It's fantastic.

Letterman shows why he was king of the talk show.

So glad it's not a full season drop as well from Netflix this is something now to look forward too.

Hated it. I got three episodes in and gave up. Second Brooklyn 99 as a suggestion, very very funny and cleverly so at times.

Has anyone watched glitch? I'm two episodes in and I'm between minds whether to continue.

I struggled to get past episode 1 of Master of None; hated every single character and the 'vaguely hipster New Yorkers' level of smugness that emanated from each of them made the whole thing borderline insufferable. Maybe future episodes upend that cliche or something, but at first blush I knew this wasn't for me. Loved Aziz Ansari in Parks & Rec, but here he was just a pompous nightmare millennial

Just finished it. The 2 main characters are fantastic.

    Totally strange, totally watchable.

Isn’t it brilliant? It almost feels a bit Tarantino the last few episodes which is no bad thing but as a whole, such a brilliant little series. Loved the two leads. They were outstanding.

Yes. We watched them all in a few days

Edit: we couldn't watch it dubbed and had to set the audio to German with English subtitles

I found Dark better for not watching more than 1-2 episodes a night, not least because it's much better with the original German audio and subtitles.

Agreed , the plot is quite mind bending and complicated but at the same time , really good so I would watch no more than 2 or 3 in a row

Was searching for something earlier and noticed Jawbone is on Netflix.
A bleak but excellent film about an ex boxer struggling to survive.

Cheers for this checked it out last night, very good.

Watched Personal Shopper last night and loved it. Ignore the title and watch it. Probably best not to know too much about it.

On the topic of subtitles, I've been watching some Anime stuff recently and on one show I somehow had the American dubbing and the subtitles on at the same time. Based purely on the dubbing I was about to turn it off because the dialogue was bloody awful cringey stuff but then I noticed the subtitles were very different from what the American voices were saying. Switched the dubbing off and watched with subtitles and it was 100% a better show.
Usually I would just watch non English things with the subtitles so I never noticed the difference in dialogue before, but if it's like that on all the non English things people are probably missing out on some great stuff by opting for dubbing.

Dubbing is a pet hate of mine. You miss so much of an actor's performance if you don't hear their voice. I don't mind subtitles and I really cannot understand people who have an issue with them.

I got comfortable with subtitles when I started watching Borgen on BBC4 a few years ago. I suppose with animation you could argue it doesn't matter whose voice you're hearing but definitely with live action you lose something by hearing a different voice.
I think Netflix is probably getting a lot of people more comfortable with subtitles, which is a good thing. I know loads of people who would have laughed at me if I tried to get them to watch something with subtitles a few years ago. Now they're regularly watching things in French, German, Danish etc. etc.

I absolutely loved the series 3%. Again subtitled rather than dubbed. The actors were brilliant, casting was great, the story excellent. I'd highly recommend a watch.

Season 4 was on BBC the tail end of last year, I think it is usually a year after it airs Netflix gets it.

I am only half way through season 3.
