    Move on from;

Person A "You attacked me the poster not the post"
    Person B "No I didn't"
    Person A "Yes you did"
    Person B "No I didn't"

And on we go around in circles.

    Seriously?
We have an example of what many believe to be double standards from/by mods to regular posters in a thread about the site dying due to double standards by mods...and you want us to move on?

Maybe it's escaped you that Person B is a Mod?

Right - leave all this bickering there, otherwise I will start dishing out bans

We may be reaching the end game here I fear.

You just did the same thing yourself, not really helping anyone make a point.

This thread will not be left open indefinitely, but I would like to give anyone who's been away for an extended festive break an opportunity to contribute any comments/suggestions

What were they thinking with that controller?

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I don't post as often anymore, and I won't post in certain threads due to certain mods.

A few are over zealous, and have their own agenda.
If a certain mod, creates a thread.. I avoid it.
If the same mod, gets involved in a thread I have posted in.. I avoid it.

4chan and reddit, are a lot more fun

    Why not, may I ask?

Beasty, you quoted previously on this thread that this discussion would be reviewed/considered by boards and feedback given.

Can an approximate time frame on that be given?

Also, can this thread be reopened to review and continue the discussion here?

After all this, I still don't know what boards itself thinks needs to happen to maintain or improve the user experience.

If you want any action we need to go away and discuss the comments made here. No point in doing that if the goalposts are still moving.

This thread is basically circumventing the current Feedback procedure. We said all along that we would review that procedure, but we will not be allowing any further site-wide "Feedback" threads in AH.

Having said that this thread has reached a far wider audience than some of the problematical threads we had seen in Feedback, and as a result I think the discussion has been a lot more balanced as a result.

I disagree with the use of such emotive language ("abuse", "attack") in relation to something quite obviously tongue-in-cheek. I would suggest that it's also impossible for a community to operate functionally when posters cannot refer to each other directly. This is After Hours, after all, in the Social & Fun category.

I agree that your post (call it what you like) should be allowed without the need for any Mod action ........... however, I think ALL Posters (Mods or otherwise) should also be allowed post in a similar fashion without being actioned, which is not presently the case unfortunately.

Like it or not, accept it or not, you get to post something like that without any Mod action because you're a Mod who can label your own post as "tongue-in-cheek" and that's that ......... whereas a Poster like myself would end up in DRP trying to unsuccessfully convince a disinterested CMod/Admin that my "abusive post" was just a bit of banter.

It's the type of thread that inevitably reaches a point where every point has been made and it then either morphs into a continuous loop of repetition or people start bickering pointlessly.

The death of boards will be traced back to the decision to ban posts about blasting people with piss.

We heard the same story in the old Feedback Forum, ie. "we'll go away and discuss the issues raised and come back with a response ........." ........ the "response" was effectively closing down the Feedback Forum so you'll forgive me if I'm skeptical.

Having said that, I'd like to thank you personally (before the thread is closed!!! :P) for at least contributing heavily here whether I agree with you or not ........ also Kersplat! for his brutal honesty.

I cannot give a timescale. Many of the Admins have not been around and we need to discuss everything amongst ourselves as well as the wider mod team

What I would hope though is we could perhaps post an update within a month or so of closing this thread. Whether we re-open this one, or open a new one to avoid a lot of the "noise" that has circulated in this thread I am not sure. Equally there may be specific topics we would like to discuss in isolation. That's what the Open Feedback forum is designed for, but if we do start any threads there I would like us to post an announcement to that effect (although those are for the Office to sort out, and I've certainly not had chance to discuss that with them yet)

It’s necessary for moving onto the next stage. Pretending this thread never happened.

In any case, the thread's not closed ........... yet!

But seriously majority of the modding about personal abuse and endless bickering makes sense.

I quit (and later re-regged) when mods effectively banned any discussion of the rescue 116 crash because they said relatives were reading the forum. They decided to censor discussion so as not to cause offence. It became parochial and middle aged.

I'm sure there will be a few things we will disagree on, but you do come across as sincere in the points you make, which is greatly appreciated

Unless it really does descend into anarchy I would hope this thread can stay open for a few more days yet

Why not leave the thread open anyway and let some of the other Admins say their piece on here ......... and maybe openly discuss some possible changes with eachother (as well as with the regular Users) on here for the sake of transparency and mutual respect etc. ???

Is there any way that problematic, yet informative posters can be kept on boards?
I've noticed over the years that some posters cause the mods a lot of work but their posts are very valuable in their respective fora, Paddy147 was one I missed when he was site banned.
Boards loses something when those kinds of posters are banned.

You can't expect mods to just put up with troublemakers. Don't act the bollox and you'll be fine. I've seen very few posters site banned who didn't deserve it, only one actually comes to mind.

Edit: and that one poster is actually back now anyway.

Problem is we then end up in "committee meetings" to discuss what out co-ordinated approach is. To date only a couple of us have posted here and I know a couple more have been keeping a watching brief. We also need any input from the Office, although they were only back in the office today (although could have been lurking for all I know)

Part of the reason of leaving it open for a few more days is to allow those who have not been around to chip in should they wish.

I've obviously been keeping my eye on this thread, but it's not something I would like to inflict on the AH mods when I get back to exterminating the re-reg trolls and other Admin duties:)
