It's rubbish. The first 30 minutes were......interesting.....then it just fell to pieces. The ending was laughably B movie bad. It's terrible.

The ending made it the perfect King adaptation, like so many of his best works, the film was great right up until the final chapter when in keeping with King's work it all kind of fell apart.

That's classic King indeed. Wheels come off in the third act.

Yeah it is on Netflix. Worth a watch, in your own time. Would be interested to see how you find it.

^^ thought it was easily the worst movie I saw last year, and possibly the last few years. Rubbish is being kind!

I don’t really agree on anything you hate no offence but you hated Mindhunter which was great and didn’t like the latest Black Mirror so I think I’ll probably like That Movie! If I’m wrong and I agree with you I will let you know :D

I thought Mindhunter was average, I finished it out so hate is a strong word. I hated elements of it, and the love it was getting. I love Black Mirror but the 2 most recent ones I've watched were a big disappointment. Earlier seasons seem far better, some with the same ideas just executed more impressively.

I simply thought Gerald's Game was a sh!te movie and I'm not the only one as we had a discussion on it earlier in this thread and it got a bit of a bashing then too.

Nice to know you're keeping track of my taste though :pac:

Watching the punisher by chance..like person of interest only darker.

Godless (?) is not bad so far.

Finished watching Black Mirror season 4 which I loved but the Crocodile episode was a pretty tough watch so thought I’d cheer myself up and watched The Road :D
Turns out the same director John Hillcoat directed Crocodile and The Road, anyway I thought it was a good movie with a great performance from Vigo and debut by Kodi Smt-McPhee. Not as depressing as I thought it was going to be.

Watched creep 2 yesterday, not as good as the first (also on Netflix), but still enjoyed it. Mark Duplass very good in it.

Thought Creep 2 was awful and I really liked the first one.

Managed to binge on all 6 episodes of Black Mirror today!! Brilliant, everyone of them. That Charlie Brooker has some mind.....

Watched episode 1 of Designated Survivor there.

    Won't be watching any more.

Can't say exactly what was wrong with it. Found acting poor, very predictable, everyone too pretty, generally just tacky.

Watched both seasons, it's ok, easy watching in the background. Don't exactly need to concentrate when watching it.

    That's not a good recommendation!

I wouldn't be able to recommend either show. And the stuff earlier in year was also kinda dialled in

It's not meant to be. But when you have kids in and out of a room it's hard to watch some of the more 'adult ' type shows, whereas this will fill a gap when stuck.

Based on episode 1, I'll not be that stuck.

Happy to see I Am Not Madame Bovary added today, one of last year's hidden gems. A pretty scathing satire of Chinese bureaucracy, it boasts a great central performance from Fan Bingbing. The film is most notable, though, for its supremely lovely visuals. Shot primarily in a rather unique circular aspect ratio inspired by period Chinese paintings, director Feng Xiaogang has a hell of an eye for composition and there's fun had with manipulating the screen's size to suit the story's direction.

It's on the (over?)long side and obviously much of the cultural nuance would be best appreciated by a Chinese audience, but it's well worth a watch nonetheless for something very different.

    2 recommendations for quality comedy.

    Not films but UK comedies.

First is The Thick of It, one of the smartest comedies in years, and one which many will never have seen. Also featuring one of my favourite comedy characters of all time, Malcolm Tucker played by ex Dr Who Peter Capaldi.

Next is Getting On. Comedy about a geriatric NHS ward. Starring Jo Brand. 3 series of top quality, funny, sad, thought provoking comedy with fantastic characters and performances.

I got through half of 1 of the shows last year, it was painfully bad compared to his earlier work.

Didn’t hear that much talk about S3. It didn't seem to take off in the same way the first 2 did.

S3 with Ewan McGregor was excellent as well. Favourite show of the year.

S3 was the worst of the 3, but had a lot of great things, mainly the cast.
