Adobe Premier with 2 hard drives

For anyone that is good with Adobe Premier: I'm planning on getting second hard drive to dedicate strictly to firewire captured footage. Is there anyone out there who has successfully done this? Successfully done what, exactly? Added a hardrive, selected it in Premiere or captured to it?
I've done all three with no problem, for what it's worth.
