Intermediate & first time surfing in Ireland

I had been planning on going for a quick surf over around Bundoran in the next few days as I'm home for christmas. Looks like the west is set for an absolutely massive swell. Would there be anywhere around there sheltered enough from the swell and wind to be surfable or should I give heading over a miss?
