I tried sideloading it. It was impossible to navigate, it's not optimised for smart tv sort of platforms at all. It was as good as useless.

What you can do however is mirror your phone screen to the Fire stick/fire tv and watch rte player that way. You might need to charge your phone during it as it can suck a bit of battery and you can't make calls etc while mirroring your phone screen. Not ideal but better than nothing.

RTE player has a cast option now on all it's shows in the app so you can cast them to your tv or to the firestick without screen mirroring - might work for you?
