Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there any way of requesting a reg if say the original registered car is now scrapped etc. For example if i wanted to get 92 D 100? Do you need to have an address in the county you register it in? Tks

It was never possible to be reissued a scrapped reg, not only that but reserving a reg on a used car has been done away with too.

It can only be done on a new car.

Almost right. It was possible to get a reg from a scrapped vehicle under the old pre-1987 system.

Yes, reserving a reg is now the privilege of new vehicle owners only.
Revenue aren't interested in taking €1000 from owners of used or classic cars anymore (it was possible to reserve a reg for such vehicles up until 2015).

When was it possible to get a pre 87 scrapped reg?

Eg GTI 1 was a 1950s Limerick reg reissued to a Golf GTI in the early 80s
    So was GTI2 and GTI205 is on a 205GTI

PI25, a 1903 Cork reg was reissued onto a Toyota Cressida

There was a Opel Manta on Donedeal
a few weeks ago with a 1904 Longford reg IX10

In the 80's I remember seeing an Audi 100 wearing the first ever Longford reg - probably the best-looking reg ever issued in the UK/Irl system:

    IXI

(actually IX 1, but it was spaced as above)
