Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

CGI?? Bog standard 70s/80s built bungalow. I'd say they were tripping over them when they were looking for a location.

I read it was in Wicklow fryup but don't know whereabouts after that.

“The ad was filmed on location in County Wicklow over three days with production company Antidote.

If it was a Lidl generator it wouldn't have started first time.

Doesn't look like there's much around there or were they just using clever shooting angles to make it appear more remote?

The house is pretty much sat on it's own. Nothing around but boggy fields and trees. If you want peace and quiet it's ideal.

Its a pretty ugly house, and I see too many of them around irish countryside. Nice ad though

Looks like it was filmed in the summer, with a bit of fake snow thrown in.

That ad infuriates me. Can you imagine how cold, damp, smelly and rotten that house would be?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭Tuco88

Must be an old generator from a u-boat. Serious power output... lights, cooker and all the rest. Not a flicker...

    Inside the house too.

Every time the ad comes on I point out to anyone who will listen that the generator should not be indoors. What if some clueless person were to try something similar!

I think the diesel fumes would be suppressed by the accumulated rat sh1t, tetanus and weals disease dripping off the walls.
If a fire starts granddad can smother it with his side burns.

Not Glenmalure. It's near Laragh on the Sally Gap road very near Glenmacnass waterfall.

It was a double celebration, Xmas and Grandas release from prison.

Nothing like a montage for cleaning up an uninhabitable dump in no time.

So. Is the old fella Benjy from the Riordans?

    There’s a €20 bet on this!

Knew it was up around there somewhere but had Glenmalure stuck in my head.I did work on the land in front of that house though along with many other remote areas of Wicklow.

    It sure is! Tom Hickey.

(I thought he was dead )

Used to live near enough to me, passed his house on the way to school.

You owe me a pint out of that €20 :D

    Good old Bungalow Blitz.

The coast of Connemara is covered with them. As in you can't get a good landscape view without one of them sticking out like a sore thumb.

Aah i though they were selling flat pack bungalows to solve homelessness.

Bog standard 70s bungalow. Havent seen the ad but im guessing the chi improved it immensely

They are part of the landscape, like it or not, just like quaint picture-postcard stone cottages are part of the landscape. You just don't want a landscape view with anything vaguely modern in it. You may not like it, but that doesn't make it good or bad.

I dare say, blissful bungalows will be admired by people in a hundred years... or two hundred years...

Lets just say that it's the kinda place that a box of matches and a gallon of petrol would have improved immensely....

One generator not only fires up the heating, but also wallpapers the rooms, installs mood lighting, changes the whole colour scheme, and provides a party atmosphere.

    Magic, it is

    Tom Hickey?

    As it happens, from wiki....
In 2013, Hickey was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.[8] During an interview on The Marian Finucane Show on 11 April 2015, he spoke of his determination to continue acting despite the onset of this condition.[9]
