Surely Pittsburgh should have spiked it on 3rd down there and taken the field goal?

I feel for the Steelers but the rules are the rules and as bullsh1t as it is completed catches at times that ball moved and the rule is the rule. But what a game both teams had opportunities to put this game away.

Except no it's not the rules . It's ****. One rule for everyone else. One rule for pats

Why, they were 3 points down and in position to score a TD and win the game. Going to OT is probably a 50/50 thing, maybe more like 55/45 at home but a lot comes down to a cointoss.

The correct call is trying to win the game from their position.

Sure buddy. This was the perfect example of the NFL this year and the mess they have gotten themselves in with this nonsense rule. But by the definition of the rule it was the right call. If you want to be salty about go for it.

For what it is worth the Steelers deserved to win the game at that moment. They skinned the Pats defense with less than a minute and thought they scored but a BS rule killed them.

Even as a Seahawks fan I can say it was the right call. If you are going to ground whilest making a catch you have to maintain control throughout the process, thems the rules.

Fair play to Jimmy g, 49ers should go all out to help him this off season

Is Garappolo reminding anyone else of Joe Montana? Really impressive drive here to attempt t win the game with less than a minute to go. Also that TD was pure "Sprint Right Option".

They had a shot to go for it but that wasn't the pass to try, too many bodies in that area.

Big Ben should get some criticism for that decision but we likely won't hear too much.

3rd down with 10 seconds to go they're probably only a 30% shot to get a TD from there imo, maybe less as it was a rushed play. Better chance in OT for sure.

But you have a shot at a TD and also a shot at a FG after that. You have to go for a TD in that situation.

The only way you'd say otherwise is afterwards when you know how it played out.

If they kicked a FG from inside the 5 on 3rd down and they lost in OT the coaching staff would be vilified and rightly so. You have to try and win these games.

10 seconds is two plays. Had they not thrown the INT and it was an incomplete pass they could have kicked the FG to tie it. Got to go for the win with enough time on the clock and enough downs

Teams will always have a shot at end zone in that scenario. Right decision, bad outcome/playcall

I'd have more of a gripe with the pass interference on the interception than the touchdown. Jesse James himself quoted a touchdown last season by Grimble against the Bengals which touched the ground and was given...though maybe he had become a runner by then. Two steps vs one knee..

it is a huge mental scar to lose it like that looking ahead to the playoffs.

Was sick that they made the FG - if the Rams beat the Titans on Sunday (and they will) I would have won around €7,800 off a €50 bet (Rams and Jags to win division - 20 on each and 10 on both, each 25/1) right on Christmas eve. Think I've brought it up a few times but it's safe to say this is the worst best I'll have ever missed out on in my life (forgot it until about 5 minutes into the first round of games on the season, odds were slashed by the next week so never went ahead). I would say I have spent about 6 of the 7 hours in work so far today thinking about it, and it's only going to get worse as the week goes on! :o

He's getting a lot of money wither way, titans defense was pretty bad on that drive, but still very impressive given he has no real quality receivers.

Think he had 8+ different receivers catching passes on each of his starts. 9 if you count the pass he caught himself last night. Won his 3 starts, and made Goodwin look like a decent receiver (back to back 100 yard games). Passer rating of 82, 92, 110. His rating on the season is 98.

His elusiveness was very good last night, got out of a few situations that should have resulted in sacks.

Hopefully the 49ers invest some of that massive cap space in the Offensive line and some receivers. Whatever about the Bears and Texans, the Titans are a competent enough defense so its very pleasing to see him put up the numbers he has.
