Stream as source of water for power washer?

Dragging a hose from the pump house is a pain in the ass and I’ve a stream right beside where I park the car.

Would be dead handy to throw hose in the stream, question is would the power washer work right or at all ?

Is the power washer able to use a water butt? Is the stream deep? If so, then you should be grand, I'd just be wary of dragging ****e up from the bottom, so allow for that.

Some pressure washers can't ( shouldn't ! ) suck water from a barrel etc, some can - need to instruction manual

The ones that can't probably cavitate and self destruct - probably

Washing with stream water would be better though

No idea, lost instructions. Can't even remember what make it is.

Here's the stream, difficult to see from the pic how deep it is etc but there's a good flow on it you wouldn't think it until it comes out the field the other side.

If it is an electric one there is a good chance it won't draw the water up, a petrol one is most likely to do it. If you are going to draw out of a stream, cut the end of the hose with a V shape so it doesn't get stuck to the bed of the stream, and put some kind of in line filter on it so you're not sucking big solids up into the pump, which will knacker the pump very fast

You'd usually have a water butt attachment that would have a filter on it.

If the washer isn't designed to use one though, you're wasting your time.

Karcher do a footvalve and reinforced hose to allow their machines suck from a bucket / water barrel

I wouldn't use unfiltered water or at least a settlement tank, grit and debris will make short work of a pump.

As said, if the power washer has the suction capabilities, and you filter it, it wouldnt really be an issue

I would have to extend the hose though probably to about 5 meters total length.

Although worst case it won't be a big deal to install a barrel at the Gable where I park.
