    According to that German Real MPG site I think the average Litres/100km are something like the following (from memory);
    1.6 Diesel - 5.9L
    1.2 Petrol - 7.5L
    1.6 Petrol - 7.9L

From my experieince with the Dealers they have no issue selling you a 1.2 in certain trims. There is a bit of a lead time though. The 1.6 HDI can be got fastest and that suits the Dealer (right now). Most dealers seemed a little reluctant to me to sell the 1.6 Petrol, and most cited resale value will be worst than the other two, others stated other reasons like MPG etc.
But of course that might change. It could be aurgued also that Petrol is not the solution to the perceived negative Diesel image.
The 1.2 might seem attractive to those doing lower mileage and IMO that should be the engine of choice here. Both 1.6 are pretty much the exact same price, so you must weigh up your options on that one, as both are very different engines with differing performance characteristics, i.e. 120 v 165 BHP etc..

    But is it a very different driving experience from a 1.2P v a 1.6D?

Ive driven both, and think I posted on here about the experience. They are quite similar in feel when it came to power (the 1.2 feeling a little faster), and both I found were very quiet and refined. The big difference is that 1.2 has this lovely engine sound coming from it when you go a tad harder on the peddle. I remember it putting a smile on my face!

What do ye make of buying the car outright if you have the money versus pcp or some other kind of finance if you would like the option to change in 3yrs.

Saw a few review videos online slating the 5008 for headroom in the rear. Some of them said the car was for small people?

    Anyone else have similar experience?

That's what I'm thinking, looking at the share price if your put 20k into Peugeot shares and hope it gets back to 2008 levels with the success of the new models, could be worth 40k+ by the time pcp balloon payment is due.
Doubled my money on Ferrari shares this year so it's possible. Still can't afford a Ferrari though.

Depends on ones own view really. But your money in a depreciating asset and it's gone, borrow for it and you still have your savings if needed for something else,

I 've posted about this before.

I don't think the panoramic roof is a huge issue. I am 6.1 and I could sit just fine on the back. Granted I didn't have a lot of room but I wouldn't be jumping around if I was sitting on the back. Also, you can tilt the seat back and the issue is much better. Sure at the size of the car I d prefer a better headroom but unless you constantly put 6.3 foot guys on the rear seats, it's a non-issue.

Need to pull the trigger asap.

    What to do though..

    2.0d allure diesel 150bhp

    1.2 130bhp GT line

    1.2 Allure with full leather.

Thought I was set on the 1.2gt line but need some reinforcement are all those extras worth it over leather or a 150bhp engine.

Do you eat and put muddy boots on the seat? Or anyone else in the car?

If so, the leather is hard to beat...

It's a 3600 option on the GT line though, you can only have the nappa. It's I think around 2,400 in the Allure but then you miss all the led lights and better looking car.

I've leather in my own but my little exorcist decided to miss the leather altogether on sunday and got it all over the carpet, my car is minging, smells like one of those cars people with children have. :(

The 150 diesel in the allure wasn't on the previous price lists but it's there now..

    Allure 2.0 BlueHDi 150bhp S&S Diesel 6-Speed Manual 118 A4 €200 €36,955

Anyone know anything about that engine?

Good, solid, reliable, economical and punchy. One of the best diesel engines.

Was considering full leather also, but dealer tells me that there is a very long wait for it

12 weeks I've been told for the proper factory fitted with massage etc. Prices are odd though, way cheaper to get the leather in the allure can only have Nappa in the GT line.
I don't know if I believe it though, think they'd rather sell you one that's been sitting in the compound. Might magically appear quicker when you order it.

I'm hoping to order a 5008 this week, if I can get in to the dealer.
But I'm torn between the 1.2 Petrol and the 1.6 Diesel engines.

Would be interested in your thoughts. I test drove the 1.6, but not the 1.2, so I'll do that anyway before I commit.
I currently drive a Kia Sportage with a 1.7l Diesel engine.

The 1.2 is a turbo and 130 bhp, so probably equivalent to a 1.4 or 1.5l older (non-turbo) petrol engine.
The 1.6 is 120 bhp, so technicall has less power than the 1.2.

However, the torque in a diesel engine tends to peak at lower revs which can translate to fewer gear changes around town.
The 1.6 will probably also handle high motorway speeds better?

The 1.2 is probably nippier round town (provided your willing to drop down the gear to get the higher revs and torque).

Then theres the fact that they may well be banning diesel engines soon, so the resale on the petrol may be better.
And of course the price with the petrol being cheaper.

It would be 1.8 that had ~130 bhp. And don't compare the maximum power, but the available power at 2500 rpm. The N/A 130 bhp would have around 175 Nm@2500 - thus having ~65 bhp. 1.2 Puretech 130 bhp has 230 Nm@2500 - around 80 bhp. It would feel stronger than N/A with similar maximum power.

I think that might be useful for you... https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=104369221

Nobody, even London, is banning diesels. They are banning old diesels

Thanks, I ordered it early sept as well, I did go for the 1.6 petrol so this might delay things, let's hope it will be here by mid January as promised. Enjoy your lovely ride!

Norway are banning the sale of all Diesel cars in 2025 and the UK and France in 2040. There is even talk of Germay banning diesel cars in cities as early as next year.
The Irish Dept of Transport has a target of being "zero emissions capable" by 2030 and to "further decarbonise" by 2050, so its unclear when the diesel ban would come in.
Volvo has also announced that they will stop production of Diesel cars.

My point was not really that diesel would be banned before I decide to resell, but more that the negative press that diesel is getting seems to be increasing which may affect the resale value in a few years time.

I doubt it's going to have wonderful resale value anyway especially the GT line and extras like leather. The entry point of the basic spec will drag them all down.

Volvo are going to stop investing in diesel technology, they will still be producing diesel cars but the engines will be the same as they are now.

Cars are dropping in value like stones. Buy expecting the worst, the difference between different manufacturers is marginal and you never get the money back for the extras, just an easier sale
