On my 5th brew and the airlock on my FV wasn't bubbling. After a bit of research it seemed that the FV was no longer be airtight so I wrapped it an clingfilm and hey-presto: bubbles.

This is my primary FV, it's a youngs, and it's a bit poor if it only lasts for 4 brews before loosing it's airtightness. Any recommendations? My second FV is a Richies and that feels a bit more sturdy but I've only used it once so far. I'm looking for a 25l or a 33l.

Keep using it and stop worrying about airtightness. People were brewing beer successfully for centuries before the invention of lids and airlocks.

I'd agree, so long as the lid is tight and there's not a wind blowing through your beer I wouldn't worry about it.

I was wondering about that. After all, if the air pressure inside is higher than outside it's pretty much the same thing.

Any tight light will just pop off anyway. Sitting loose on top is fine.
