    "Detonator" went off, bomb didn't.

Evil Inc are going to have to get their quality control shit together.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

    Hey up, you from Barnsley?

I don't understand why you'd need to build your own explosives if you live in the US.

You can definitely get something higher quality and more destructive at a reasonable price.

Hopefully no Dubs caught up in this.

    Pipebomb in NYC?
A bit more than a "bloody non event"

He/she started a thread about this as obviously he has interest/concerns/ulterior motives. Id be interested to know what happened though.
You should start a thread on these other killings as you seem excercised by them.

"Ulterior motives"? I started the thread because an explosion in NY is newsworthy. If other posters are concerned about other stuff start a thread about it.

Some pathetic stuff on the thread from the usual suspects.

The prayers only work if they're accompanied by thoughts.

I only watched Sex and The City last week.

    Really makes you think.

True but it might set off flags and get the attention of law enforcement.

Thoughts and prayers go out to you, but don't worry it won't be long until a NYC Facebook frame will be available and then everything will be just fine.

Surprisingly no, they don't sell bombs in shops in US.
You can buy black powder or extract same from legally bought ammunition - which is main ingredient of p1p$ b0mm

    Detonator went off, bomb didn't.

Still needs to write a letter of complaint though. :)

Under the Sale of Goods and Services Act that detonator would be either not fit for purpose or not as described.
Either way it’s definitley one for Judge Judy.

Conor Pope might do a consumer rights piece on it in the Times.

If the bomb was strapped to him (Sky News) and went off and he’s fit to be arrested, then he needs to write a strongly worded letter to whoever made that bomb.
    Possibly himself.

Apparently, the fact that more of these attacks don't come to fruition is partly because real life terrorists tend to be more like those in the movie Four Lions than those in The Siege.

Of course, this is no help to the poor victims when one of these guys do eventually get their method right, as some do (Boston). Still, it's some comfort to know that never mind police/intelligence agencies foiling their plot, these guys can and do foil it themselves.

Why didn't this post get a red card? Reads a little more politely than Backwards Man's one, but says the very same thing.

Corner of 42nd st and 8th ave

That's where the Port Authority bus terminal station is

Sounds like he was in one of the passageways. Odd place to set off a bomb in NYC. They'd be busy but the level of chaos that such an explosion would cause would be minimal in comparison a street level explosion in midtown.

The initial reports were that it went off prematurely, which would explain why he's alive and there are no injuries.

Or today's lesson: learn the difference between a misconstrued tongue in cheek comment and someone expressing proven fact.
